Summary
What can we say, without giving too much away?
Not much, is the answer.
But what we CAN say is that this book is hilarious, it’s tense, and it’s packed with all the eye-popping action, crackling one liners and imaginative set pieces you’ve come to expect. There’s a new threat to our plucky heroine, of course. But that’s not all. There’s also the little fact of the Big Bad, the uber-baddy who’s going to come along and really, really destroy the world. (Really.) And what we learn about that villain in this book will literally make your jaw fall off and your hair go white with shock. (Not really.)
Will Skulduggery make it out of the Faceless Ones’ dimension?
Who knows. The problem is, he may not have much to come back to….

Almost totally fab
I do love the Skulduggery Pleasant series, such witty and well plotted adventures and this is one of my favourite stories. Rupert Degas is a wonderful narrator; he really creates an image of the characters and they have stayed with me as I've gone on and read the paper versions of the subsequent installments. I think it's a shame Degas didn't stay on to voice these. Having said that, there are a few occasions where he does the wrong voice for the character (notably getting Remus Crux and Springheeled Jack mixed up in conversation, which is a bit confusing). I can live with it though, because everything else is perfect.

Good Story but reading wasn’t great
There were a few moments where the wrong voice would be used or there would be a long pause for no reason which took away from the experience of the book but I have always enjoyed skulduggery pleasant as a whole and the performance was not bad enough for me to choose to not listen to it.

Not Just for Teenagers
I’m a 52 year old Male, so not just for the young. I read/listen to Crime, Fantasy and Sc-Fi and was recommended these books by my Son, who read them and a teenager and who is reading them again in his twenties. I was unsure, so 3 weeks ago I started listening to book one, I have now just finished book four. Can’t put them down. To add to the fantastic stories and characters, the Narrator Brian Bowles, is one of the best I have listened to.
Skulduggery Pleasant is a series of fantasy novels written by Irish author Derek Landy. The books revolve around the adventures of the skeleton detective, Skulduggery Pleasant, his protegé, Valkyrie Cain, along with other friends. The central story arc concerns Valkyrie's struggle to stop evil forces threatening the world, finally find justice for her late uncle's death, and her internal struggle to resist the darkness within.

Another great Tale of Skulduggery!
Great story and only one dropped star because on a couple of occasions the voice being used is not the character that’s actually speaking.
First time I’ve noticed this in any of the books but once you’ve figured out who should have said it, it all makes sense.
Can’t wait for the next one

Great listen
A great listen however the audible chapters and book chapters do not match. Other than this highly recommended
