Summary
In the tangled bog city of Nannandry, Priloe Sharpe's life is worth only what his pick-pocketing skills can buy him. The entire planet of Grunholtz is now one big colonization failure and run completely by rival gangs. Hope of a better life is nonexistent - until the day off-worlders show up in the marketplace with a shiny piece of tech, which Priloe artfully snags. In a race for his life, Priloe must save his sister and somehow leave the planet, risking everything for a new life in the cloud city of Leger Nuage.

Nice Read
Nice story with a bit of a obvious ending , a little slow to start with and as always the problem with this size its over quite quick.
Main characters are quite appealing and story
feels a bit of a oliver twist but more moderised and appealing to the YA groups.
Narrator Laurel is quite good once you get used to her style. I listen at quite a fast pace but even at speed of 1 i found her quite fast, other listeners may want to move her between 0.8 to 0.9. for optimal enjoyment.
Depth of her performance and range does fit the storyline quite well overall however.
Overall i found the story fairly worthwhile and i would checkout more of the authors work on audible and ebook.
This audible was gifted to me in exchange for my review and as such is based upon my own honest opinion.

A fun side story novella in the Privateer Tales universe
Overall:
While short this is a really fun story and gives the listener a good sense of what stories set in Jamie McFarlane's universe are like. It's a great series of books and I can guarantee anyone who enjoys listening to this book, as I did, will enjoy the series.
Performance:
The narrator was crisp and clear. I actually preferred some of the prior narrators of Jamie McFarlane's work but can't really identify a reason why and am therefore not deducting for it.
Story:
This is a short novella that takes place in the same story universe as Jamie McFarlane's Privateer Tales and tangentially involves some of the characters fun that story. Having said that, the main character (and entire world) are entirely new to the series and the story holds up perfectly well as a stand-alone with its own HEA. It's s different sort of story of others in the series (even though labeled as book 6), but has the author's usual hallmarks of excellent writing, with great action scenes and strong characters in an enjoyable plot. Fun to read as a book, and just as fun to listen to on audible.

Too short and unaware of a character.
Wasn't a fan of the reader and the story I'm still unsure of. Felt like a pointless character who will take so long to get caught up on the basic tech of the world that he will just end up being a boring burden. Hope I'm wrong.

Strange Narration
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laurel Schroeder?
No specific person, but just someone who didn't have such a strange way of speaking. Laurel speaks very fast but also has unusually long pauses between sentences. It's very off-putting and might even just be an editing problem. I'm not sure.
Was Cutpurse worth the listening time?

first off its in the wrong order
Would you listen to Cutpurse again? Why?
probably but it's short most was covered in book 8 just went in to more detail on the kids found on the planet so need to listen after book 8 not 5 so should be book 9
How did the narrator detract from the book?
think narrator needs to slow down a bit but like the other narrator better

this is one of the worst books I have ever heard
I gave up only being part way through. I could not listen another minute of the horrible narrator. The story line was nothing like the previous books.

Changing narrators is never good
Changing narrators is never good, especially when you switch from a well known powerhouse to an unknown whose cadence and delivery is so different and at times, distractedly incompatible with the characters, events and actions being narrated that it turns what should have been the enjoyment of a great story into a tedious sequence of regrets.
I cant help but wander if this was a financial issue or a scheduling snafu, but whatever it was that made audible switch from Mike Narramore to Laurel Schroeder, please, stop messing with a good thing please. if it aint broke...don't hire another narrator. Anyone who listened to Joe Abercrombe's first law series knows what I am talking about.
Please stay with a proven reader on good story's.
