Romance is in the air in the charming seaside village of Molena Point, California. Everyone is excited about the upcoming wedding of its chief of police to the lovely Charlie Getz, even cool feline detective Joe Grey. But the festivities are interrupted when two uninvited guests try to blow up the church. Then one of the bride’s good friends, building contractor Ryan Flannery, lands in a heap of trouble when her philandering husband is found dead.
With suspicion falling on Ryan’s shoulders, Joe Grey and his pals, Dulcie and Kit, set out to prove her innocence. Soon paw-deep in a tangle of jealousy, greed, and vengeance, Joe Grey, Dulcie, and Kit find themselves in the biggest cat fight of their lives - a bare-clawed battle with a prey who is as cunning as he is deadly...
Would you try another book from Shirley Rousseau Murphy and/or Susan Boyce?
I have read many stories in this series but this is the first one I have gotten in the audible version. I enjoy the books and characters and had hoped to share these stories with my daughter on a car trip. She has enjoyed other cat series so I thought this would be a good way to introduce these books. Susan has a nice voice but it does not work for these books. At times , especially the first chapter has a "sing song" quality and then at a couple of other points her voice sounds robotic. Some of the characters are ok and others not as well done. The narrative parts do not work well for me. I am finishing it and have managed to get beyond the narration but we could only listen to one chapter on our trip before turning it off. I love audible and listen to several books a month but I will stick with reading these unless there is a different narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the whole series. The characters work for me and I visit the California coast often so find the setting very enjoyable.
