Story
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples. Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

Biblical womanhood - the belief that God designed women to be submissive wives, virtuous mothers, and joyful homemakers - pervades North American Christianity. From choices about careers to roles in local churches to relationship dynamics, this belief shapes the everyday lives of evangelical women. Yet biblical womanhood isn't biblical, says Baylor University historian Beth Allison Barr. It was born in a series of clearly definable historical moments.

One woman's struggle against the darkness of Hong Kong's drug dens. Until it was pulled down, the Walled City was Hong Kong's most foreboding territory. It was a lawless place, dominated by the Triads, and which the police hesitated to enter. Strangers were unwelcome. Drug smuggling and heroin addiction flourished, as did prostitution and pornography, extortion and fear. When Jackie Pullinger set sail from England in 1966 she had no idea that God was calling her to the Walled City.

Story
People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.
Summary
Join best-selling author Beth Moore in her life-changing quest of vine-chasing - and learn how everything changes when you discover the true meaning of a fruitful, God-pleasing, meaning-filled life.
Most of us have times when, if we are honest, we’d admit to feeling like our lives are embarrassingly small and insignificant. Times when it seems like we’re going through a whole lot of pain and striving without much to show for it. Like our daily pursuits don’t really matter in the long run.
At times like that, we can’t help wondering if we really matter - to the world or even to God.
In Chasing Vines, Beth Moore gives us a new hope, revealing the abundant secrets of a fruitful, Kingdom-building, God-pleasing life. Tracing the images of vinedresser, vine, branch, and fruit through Scripture, and sharing stories from her own journey, Beth shows us how nothing in our lives is wasted. Not the place we’ve been planted. Not the painful pruning. Not even the manure that gets dumped on us when we least expect it.
Beth is convinced from Scripture that every person who knows Jesus is meant to thrive in fruitfulness. Life might not always be fun, but in Christ, it can always be immensely fruitful. Nothing is for nothing.
Join Beth on her journey of discovering what it means to chase vines - and learn how everything changes when we understand and fully embrace God’s amazing design for growing us into fruitful, meaningful, abundant life.

Not worth the listen or read
I found this book to be full of doctrinally unsound information. It’s sad to me that Beth Moore has gone this far to the other way. She ignores what the Bible says and goes on her emotions instead.

One of her best...
With beautifully written poetic prose, Beth Moore has created a masterpiece on living an abundant Christian life. It is not one without sorrow or one that if focused on primarily on rewards, but on abiding with The Vine (John 15).
I’ve done several studies from Ms Moore, and would rank this book within the top three favorites of mine from her. Chapters are short enough to read/experience in a single sitting, with poignant lessons that you can reflect on until you read the rest. With true artistry of writing, she mixes personal stories with facts on viticulture and scripture-center witching. The illustrations of vines, soil, and the like giving readers a very visual illustration to better understand the spiritual principle being taught.
You’re also here a rawness and an authenticity in the personal stories that I’ve not heard in other books by Ms. Moore. These include how to love people of other faiths and gently and respectfully addressing the public ridicule she faced in 2019. This is a woman with nothing to prove, who loves Jesus, and who shares wisdom and perspective on how to see and engage with Him throughout life.
This is one I will read/listen to more than once.

Fertile Soil For My Soul
I’m crying as I finish “Chasing Vines” by my precious sister in Jesus I’ve never met, Beth Moore. Her description of the metaphor of grapes, vines, vineyards, branches, etc. in the Bible to describe my life and how God wants me to produce much fruit, went straight to the very roots of my soul and spirit. How God places me exactly where he wants me to grow. How He chooses just enough rocks in the soil, just the right material in the soil, even from dead things and even manure that will become fertilizer for me! How He trellises me and lifts me up to receive His light. How He prunes me so that I will bear a bountiful harvest for His Kingdom. This all spoke to my personal ministry and how God can and will use everything in my life to be incredibly fruitful for Him. Nothing is ever wasted. May I use these truths to produce the sweetest wine for my Savior until we drink it together at the greatest feast to come. May He enjoy watching me grow as I am obedient to The Vinedresser, through all seasons of my life. Thank you Beth for sharing your heart, struggles and life in this book. Thank you for your faithfulness to study the scriptures and glean the truths that Jesus wanted you to share. Thank you for feeding His needy sheep. And thank you O precious Lord, for your precious servant, Beth, who has always led me to fall in love with you all over again and go deeper with you into the fertile soil of your love. Ground me in this love and help me produce much fruit for your glory, in Jesus’ Name.
