Summary

Detective Sept Savoie is a cop who thinks making a relationship work is harder than catching a serial killer, but her current case may prove her wrong.

Six months after Hurricane Katrina has devastated most of New Orleans, detective Sept Savoie is battling the nightmare of everything the storm has taken from her when a brutalized body turns up behind one of New Orleans's most famous restaurants, which is run by Keegan Blanchard. The more Sept works through the clues, the more they point to Keegan, which makes the relationship growing between them anything but love at first sight. The first death is only the beginning, though, as the miles of deserted neighborhoods Katrina left behind provide the perfect stage for murder.

A Sept Savoie Romantic Thriller.

Poorly Narrated

I've gone back to the reviews to see whether I was perhaps not concentrating when I read them before purchasing but, no, the narrator received glowing reviews. i can't understand why. I've returned the audible booked based solely on the narrator. The pace of the reading is disconcerting. Slow and well enunciated is normally to be recommended. This, especially during dialogue ... is... more...like...a...slog...through...treacle. It is also sing song and the continual up and down cadence makes it incredibly difficult to follow the story. It intrudes so dramatically that I found I couldn't connect with the characters at all.

The story is good and I've bought the kindle version just to enjoy the story.

Good story, narration not so much

As struggling New Orleans was an interesting setting for a serial killer suspense and worked really well. I would have enjoyed the book more if the narration had been more consistent and less drawling. An accent more related to the region would also have been good.
