In the spring of 1988, Talbot Clay’s life was shattered by a series of tragedies that drove the young man to run away and hide. His hiding place was Summervale, a hidden haven in the Pacific Northwest. There, Talbot Clay became Brother Bot.

At Summervale, the days and years flew by. They were happy times, almost idyllic. Surrounded by a menagerie of quirky animals and a society of eccentric humans, Bot bounced back. He regained his appreciation for the mundane little joys of life. And he worked hard: blowing glass, tending the orchards, meditating, and seeking enlightenment.

But then, the damnedest thing happened. Brother Bot actually achieved enlightenment. It was not what he expected. To his amazement, Bot’s enlightenment came with an unexpected gift - a bewildering power. In his heart, Bot knew he was just an ordinary guy, not a saint or a messiah. Not someone to wield such a power. But nonetheless, there it was. What was an ordinary guy to do?
