now i get it!

light narrates his book in a friendly, engaging way. i always felt drawn to meditation but when i tried it, i felt like i was basically just sitting with my eyes closed. following the EASY method as described works! i am actually meditating now, had a couple of insights and am sleeping so much better.
i didnt agree with the exchange principle, but everything else he said just hit a chord with me - especially the bit about mindfulness being selective focus, and you can go so much further into an experience than that - it just made me look at things differently.
if you are new to meditation or do not feel you are getting very far, then this is the book for you.

So much to learn, so much to find out how to meditate explained simply on how to, why to and when to. Just from listening to this perfect book and letting the simple truths sink in, I am now getting so much more happiness and contentment throughout every day down all the remainder of my blissful life.

Best meditation guide I have come across

This book was the introduction to meditation that I really needed. It really is amazing how quickly, meditating using the easy approach, yields results. I sleep better, feel more mentally alert and am much more capable of giving love...all after just 6 weeks.

A beautiful book

So thankful I came across this brilliant book! Can’t recommend it enough and really helped to improve my practice. I would definitely recommend it for absolute beginners or those who need to fine tune their practice.

Life changing practice

If everyone could learn and implement the ideas in this book the world would certainly be a better place.
I listened to this after I had already begun the Ziva technique by Emily Fletcher, and found this book to be a great compliment to my practice. It explains things in a different way to aid understanding, both books work very well together.

Highly recommend for anyone struggling with meditation

This book makes meditation for beginners easy and enjoyable, very glad I read this book. It’s completely changed my outlook on meditation and inspired me to practice daily and follow the EASY process and not to worry if I think I’m doing it wrong.

Overrated

I found this book odd. The technique is very prescriptive and there is no alternative offered if you don’t want to repeatedly say ‘ahem’ to yourself when meditating, which frankly just makes me think of throat-clearing. It also suggests if you keep doing this then you will start having abstract thoughts such as thinking your toes are like stars. I’ve been meditating daily for two years and nothing like that has ever happened to me though I’ve tried many approaches. It also adds on a feeling of pressure and expectation that you should be experiencing something magical (“bliss”) and therefore feeling disappointed if that doesn’t happen. The second half of the book starts with a chapter saying that meditation isn’t magical and you shouldn’t expect major changes. Then it launches into several chapters of anecdotes about people who have experienced major changes. One thing I did like was the comment that you don’t have to be ‘focussing on’ something throughout meditation which mindfulness guides often suggest but I feel stops my brain from being able to relax and do what it wants to. As for all the book’s obsessing about how it’s fine to sit on the sofa to meditate; unless you are a real worrier I’d imagine most people sit how they are comfortable to meditate anyway, I certainly do. This book is a bit ‘emperors new clothes’ in my opinion, promising something that isn’t really there. Stick to kabat-zinn and the full catastrophe in my opinion.

Best guide to meditation

Took awhile to get into Light’s accent. But quite quickly it became very clear his message is amazing and worth persevering with! (Sorry if that sounds irreverent Light! ) anyway I’d heard a podcast with him being interviewed which is what lead me to buying the book and persevering. So glad I did. This has actually changed my life.

I’ve done many courses in mindfulness and tried to build my own practice ... so much knowledge and so little capacity ... this has opened up the practice to me so soo effectively.

If meditation is something you need in your life and your daily practice is not happening ... listen to this... you won’t regret it!

Changed my Meditation. 100% yes! Read it!

I always knew that I wanted to do meditation but it felt so tedious and every time I would go to sit down and meditate I would be worried that I wouldn’t do it right, I didn’t have the right body position, or I didn’t have enough time or or or or or.... since reading this book I have been meditating consistently and without judging each individual meditation I have noticed an overall difference in my mood and outlook outside of my meditations. Another thing I really loved about the book is it gives me a lot of background/knowledge on the brain and why certain things in meditation work or cause you to overthink things. All in all it is made my meditation experience so much more enjoyable and something that I feel confident in now. If you’re curious about meditation I would 100% recommend reading this book!!

Great place to start for beginning meditators

Being a daily meditator and using this technique for almost three years, I feel like my practice is enriched from listening to this book. I also tell people frequently about the benefits of meditating, but can't really explain my practice because it can't be learned from a book. Light Watkins does a wonderful job of teaching about the technique as well as gives a simple meditation to get people started, but then also explains why they need to explore further and find a teacher to truly get the most out of the practice. Happy meditating, future readers, and hope you experience "Bliss More" after reading this great book!

Helpful

I love this book. His instructions on proper meditating are as close to having live lessons with him. The beauty is, you can relisten to the instruction part as often as you have to. Very helpful for me.

Life-Changing

This book is incredible. I started listening to this because acupuncturist recommended it sure to my high stress job. After listening to this book and implementing his techniques, my stress levels (and heartburn and acid reflux) lowered and eventually disappeared. It's a simple method but takes dedication, totally worth it. Thanks for sharing your gift Light!

Best Book on meditation I’ve ever read/listened to

Having been an on/off meditator for decades, this book cleared up many misconceptions I’d had about the reasons for and process of meditating. Within the first couple days of following the authors guidelines I found a new level of contentment,optimism and yes bliss....and an unprecedented motivation to do the practice not just every day, but twice a day. Can’t recommend enough, or give enough copies to others. Thank you Light Watkins.

Inspirational and helpful!

I had listened to a podcast where Light Watkins was interviewed. I was inspired by him to start a meditation practice, but I did not know how to begin. This book, along with Light’s book The Inner Gym, were instrumental in getting me started with a successful meditation practice. My husband and I are now 3 weeks in on a daily meditation practice, and we are already noticing the positive effects that it is having on our lives and in each other. I highly recommend this book!

Life changing

Before I bought this book, I’ve tried other types of meditation and subscribed to many different apps for many years. But meditation was still something I wished I could do or something I wished could help with the general anxiousness or fear of life I felt daily.

After reading/listening to this book and following Light’s 21 days meditation challenge (that I stretched to 90 days and months), I found myself having a gap between emotions and my thought process. I found myself generally calmer and not so fearful of life. The change was so subtle but was enough to believe the method taught in the book works!

If you’ve been curious about meditation, get this book. Light addressed a lot of questions I had about meditation but didn’t know who to ask. Having those questions answered as I start the practice was very helpful.

Method taught is also a super easy method that can be done by anyone and at almost anytime (not whilst driving or working heavy machinery).

Overall an excellent self-help book. Life changing is an understatement.

Great Meditation Guide for Beginners and Experts

This was a wonderful compassionate guide through a gentle philosophy of meditation. As someone who has meditated for years and read lots of books and attended many trainings and retreats I enjoyed this kind process for cultivating a practice. For many these insights might not be revelatory but Light adds his voice and experiences to this field in a way that is down to earth, inviting, and encouraging those who are just beginning and offer reminders to those deeper on their journey to enjoy their practice even more. I also recommend Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff and for those wanting more comical introductions to concepts of mindfulness 10% Happier by Dan Harris that covers lots of theories and approaches. I discovered Light through his 21-Day Meditation Course available online at Commune and immediately wanted to seek out more of what he had to say. Listening to this renewed my love of meditation as did his course and I will definitely return to listen again. He shares both his own journey as well as experiences of his students with the ebb and flow process of any long term meditation practice. I appreciate the loosening of the effort that can often arise in mindfulness and pressure to "do it right" and "get results". This book feels like an invitation to soften and hold greater compassion for yourself in whatever your experience of meditation. Highly recommend for those interested in the topic and enjoy hearing different voices on engaging with meditation.

WOW. It really works!

I've been a novice meditator for years and recently decided to add a second daily meditation to compliment my morning sit. I found Light on insta and enjoy his daily dose emails, so I thought I'd give his book a listen to see if I could tap into more bliss.

The answer is YES. WOW. Light's approach is very thoughtful, thorough, and E A S Y. I'm getting so much bliss out of meditation - and just generally feel much more chill all around.

If you're a beginner, good for YOU. You'll LOVE this book!

If you're a regular meditator looking to go deeper and try another approach, you'll LOVE this book.

It's really enjoyable and full of insight. Plus, Light reads it to you! What more could one ask for?
