I knew going in that this was the first in a trilogy, but usually that would mean that at least some kind of conclusion happens, even with major plot threads hanging. This feels more like the first few chapters of a novel, and I don’t really see why it’s a separate book rather than making the whole trilogy one thing.

That said, it does a decent job of setting up an intriguing premise. I may at some point listen to the others.
