About this listen

Battle: The Story of the Bulge, John Toland's first work of military history, recounts the saga of beleaguered American troops as they resisted Hitler's deadly counter offensive in World War II's Battle of the Bulge - and turned it into an Allied victory. It is a gripping work, painstakingly researched and imbued with such vivid detail that listeners will feel as though they themselves witnessed these events. This is a book not to be missed by anyone interested in this tumultuous era of our world's history.

This is a very detailed account of the Battle of the Bulge. Having been to the area and stayed / stopped in many of the notable towns this book comes to life.
It is very well read and an easy listen.
As ever they were the Greatest Generation and we owe the people involved a huge debt.

Excellent work by John Toland. Gripping account of how Hitler almost pulled off an amazing coup. The fighting spirit of the American soldiers was what beat him.

This has to be THE definitive book about the Battle of the Bulge. Authentic voices jump out of the virtual pages. Written in the late fifties, it benefits from interviews with those that took part in this, the final major battle in Europe.
I just regret that it took me so long to find this book.
