About this listen

He’s all sharp edges and ready to cut. Aiden has walls up a mile high and won’t let anyone in. It’s frustrating. And challenging. When we’re paired up to solve a case for our criminal investigation class, it’s the perfect time to get closer. The project turns hot when one kiss leads to another. And then to more. I’m ready for something special, something permanent.

Not Aiden. He’s new to relationships and the complications they bring. When our ambitions clash, it’s my emotions that are in a jumble. We both want into the FBI. Can I handle it if only one of us makes it?

I can’t believe I’m stuck working with him. Bryce is too hot for his own good. And why does he smile so much? When we’re paired up on a university project, I want to scream. There’s no way to change it. Well, no legal way. And my hacking days are behind me. Mostly.

The sparks fly hot and fast as we work together, but Bryce isn’t the guy for me. I don’t even like him. At all. But after one smokin’ kiss I can’t stop thinking about him. Damn it. Falling for a tattoo artist isn’t in my plan. Good thing I’ve always been terrible at following the rules.

Bad Boy Ink is the fifth book in the Get Ink’d series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I suggest reading the entire series to fully enjoy all the characters and side characters. This is a contemporary romance that revolves around the members who work at a popular tattoo shop.

Aiden and Bryce are two very different men who share the same the dream and passion: to work for the FBI’s cyber team. Unfortunately, Aiden and Bryce are both competing for the same job at the FBI and this puts them at odds with each other. Yet, even with this conflict, their attraction towards each other cannot be stifled. Soon that attraction turns into something more romantic, and both men have to figure out how to move forward in their relationship despite the conflicts.

While I enjoyed this book and thought it was well written, I was a bit confused on why Aiden and Bryce were so hyper focused on “winning” the FBI job through their school project. If Bryce and Aiden were such incredible and skilled hackers, then the FBI, or any other cybersecurity job in either the government or private sector, would be extremely interested in hiring them. This was the only part of the plot that really didn’t make sense, but I think it shows how entertaining the rest of the book was that I was able to ignore it. I really enjoyed the spicey romance between Bryce and Aiden and the transformation of their relationship from “enemies” (really just intense rivals) to romantic lovers.

Connor Brown narrated the audiobook and did a wonderful job. I love Connor’s voice and think he’s been a great choice to narrate this series (except for book one which was narrated by another person). Connor has kept the character voices consistent throughout the book which makes it easy to follow along in the story. The audiobook production was well done and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Bryce and Aiden seem like such opposites to start - one a ray of sunshine, outgoing, and full of flirty energy, the other dour, gloomy, and introverted - but they both have suffered through some hard times and may have more in common than they know. They both have IT/hacker backgrounds and are rivals for the same position with the FBI. Usually in a story like this, I get a strong pull as to who I want to 'win,' but not here. I felt for both men, they both had good reasons for why they wanted or needed the FBI job, and I couldn't root for one over the other. I wanted them both to win. (It's a good author who can write such great characters.) Close proximity leads them to a greater understanding of each other which leads to more intimate interactions. The underlying tension and rivalry is still there, even as they work together on their college class project. Will their newfound relationship survive the rivalry or will the success of one of them destroy their budding love?

The narration was perfect for this story. The attitudes and snark came through loud and clear. The tone and delivery were spot on.

Another Get Ink'd story with 2 interesting characters. Funny in parts, great character building story. Enemies to lovers. Chasing a dream job. This book has everything and a HEA.

This entire series has been unbelievably well done. This book, though, kind of disappointed me a bit in the fact that the members of Get Ink'd were hardly mentioned. It seems like they've all been a huge part of the story lines in the last books and this is the first that had two MC's that were more periphery. I did love their story, though. It was almost an enemies to lovers... two students, about to graduate, both up for the same job. It's definitely one to listen to!!

Another great story
