About this listen

No one's ever caught me thinking with my manhood.

Being demisexual means attraction doesn't always come easy. And it has a way of knocking me off my feet. I can't want Joel. I'm pretty sure he's scared of me, and we're working together.

It's a recipe for disaster.

Too bad my emotions say otherwise. And once they start talking, my body starts listening. I've been screwed by love before. Is Joel worth taking the risk?

There’s no need to get bent out of shape over one hot guy.

Managing talent puts me in the path of plenty of attractive men, so there's no reason to freak out every time I see Kyzer. Besides being gorgeous, he's covered in ink and as intimidating as they come. You'd never know from looking at him how gentle he is. He's a client and no matter how much I want him, he's off limits.

There are lines in this business that you can't cross. I know it's best for both of our careers. But what if throwing out the rules leads us down the path to happily ever after?

This story was just ok for me. I enjoy learning about diverse sexualities, but I have to admit the demi-sexual portrayal threw me. It was as if Kyzer himself didn't know when he was attracted to someone, and when he was ready for more. I did like the way he and Joel learned about and supported each other at first. Then Kyzer suddenly went from all calm and supportive to needy and whiny. There is a big blow-up between Joel and Kyzer that seemed overdone. Joel was obviously under a lot of stress and took way too much blame for his brother's actions. I'm not sure why Kyzer had his melt-down. It seemed pretty selfish. I was glad they worked it all out, though. Two threads didn't seem complete to me. Danny didn't really seem like he learned anything, and Peyton seemed to be a big deal at first that didn't really match his attitude at the end. I also think Kyzer's refusal to even consider forgiving Peyton will end up hurting him (Kyzer) in the end. Anyway, these are my opinions. If you have enjoyed the series so far, give this a try. It just didn't work for me.

The narration was pretty good, but I have to admit. the calm, soothing tone actually lulled me to sleep a couple times while I was listening.

I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Not my favorite in the series

I love this series, and this book was no different—such chemistry. I loved the development and how we really got to know the characters as they took the time to know each other. I sped the narration up to 1.2, sometimes 1.3, which made the narration a lot better. There were some questionable side character voice choices, but I was able to ignore them.

Great series

Such a good story.
Joel and Kyzer are both very good at taking care of others and not themselves.
Joel is buried under a mountain of responsibility and Kyzer has never been able to find that one person who actually accepts him.
I really enjoyed how their friendship developed first
and then slowly evolved into something so much more despite a whole series of misunderstandings.
Ultimately they have to decide if love and each other are worth the risk to their battered hearts.
Plenty of steam, some light drama and I absolutely enjoyed the maturity if these two characters.

David Piper did an outstanding job bringing these characters to life.

Sweet and cute

Angel Ink is the seventh book in the Get Ink’d series and the second one to be set within the L.A. spin-off shop. This book can be easily read as a standalone, but I do enjoy the other books in the series and think they are worth reading to fully immerse into the universe.

Kyzer is one of the tattoo artists hired on to staff the L.A. shop and star in the spin-off reality show. Joel is the producer in charge of making the reality show a hit while also trying to keep his family from falling apart. The last thing both Kyzer and Joel expect to find with each other is a deep attraction that continues to grow despite the obstacles. The romance between Joel and Kyzer is full of tension at first, but I like the slow steady growth of it, especially the emphasis put on dating and getting to know each other. Kyzer identifies as demisexual so it was wonderful to see how respectful Joel was of his sexuality and how they both worked on the relationship. There were some angsty moments, but nothing that lasted too long, and the happy ending was worth all the angst.

A Demi Romance
