About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Cal Kestis leads the Mantis crew on an adventure set between Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal's crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More important, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy's future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire the Mantis crew grows more daring.

On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch-pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire's most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.

Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?

Good Book

It’s a good book that gives lots of background info into the core crew. Fans of the games will love all the tidbits and information you get as well as the mission they go on. Aside from that some parts of the book are so romance heavy that it feels a bit weird.

Lots of backstory, sometimes too much

If you are obsessed with Star Wars, go for it. I am a FANATIC and I enjoyed this. knowing exactly how Greez Dritus loses his arm exactly is cool. If you don't like amateur love stories and having it be described in detail I wouldn't bother with this one. Other than that I'd say good read.

Bit of a weird love story but...

Strange direction taken with some characters, some themes/ideas were overdone, disappointing use of most of the novel's time for a mostly aimless story, added little before the new games release!

Could have been so much more

I really enjoyed the Cal Kestis games and their stories are brilliant. The character and overall story of Cal deserved better than this book.

The performances are good and the production values like all Star Wars audio books is top notch.

But it’s such hard work to try and get through. I’ve been in and out for months and still have 2 hours left, I can’t find the motivation to finish it.

In hindsight I’d probably avoid. It doesn’t really add anything of merit to Cals overall story and as others have mentioned, it just seems more sexualised than any other Star Wars book or show I’ve read or seen before, and not in my opinion to the benefit of the story.

Hard work
