After a devastating political assassination, two journalists stand between the truth and a conspiracy that will shock the world.

Tom Novak and Stella Mitchell are covering the aftermath of a chilling terror attack on the British Prime Minister and the US Secretary of Defense. But the further the American and English duo investigate, the more holes they find in the official version of events.

When they link the attack to a series of suspicious deaths the night before, Novak and Mitchell find themselves the next targets in an extraordinary conspiracy involving the White House, the British government, and a shadowy deep-state organization.

With help from a maverick CIA officer and a whistleblower within British Intelligence, Novak and Mitchell must risk everything to track down the one source who can break their story and expose the shocking truth. On the run for their lives, they will find out just how far those in power are willing to go to preserve their secrets...

An Amazon UK No.1 bestseller for three straight months, Official Secrets is packed with globetrotting action and rollercoaster twists.

Good spy thriller

I began using Audible as a way to help me with awful sleeping patterns. I’d listen to a story and almost without fail, fall asleep after a chapter or two. I’ve often not finished books because of that disruption as I tend not to listen during the day and can’t be bothered returning to the same place each night. Mad I know, but the truth. This time with this book, when I woke, I couldn’t wait to go back to the last point I’d last listened to and mark it and yes I even found time to listen to it during the day. Is this something profound or a great piece of literature? Of course not, but the story and narration were equally brilliant for me as a form of entertainment and ecsapism. I’m not an avid reader and certainly no critic, but I felt the need to share this with you as the writer and narrator deserve it. Thank you for reading my personal view.

Best book I’ve listened to for a very long time.

The narration was ok, he did a good enough job of accents etc, but it was a bit stilted in delivery.
My main issue though was just how drawn out and twisted the plot became, it was just too much and became a bit ridiculous.
Coco Chanel used to say that before leaving the house she would take one accessory off and I think the author should have taken one story line twist out before publication.

So many plot twists and complexities… just too much

It’s a pretty standard thriller. Not bad but none of the characters really stood out for me -especially the women. Extra points to the narrator for his Alec Guinness does Smilie impression.

Averagely decent
