About this listen

DIRK PITT IS BACK. AND ON HIS SHOULDERS RESTS THE FATE OF THE ENTIRE PLANET.

Tibet, 1959: In the turmoil of the Communist takeover of the mountain kingdom, a Buddhist artefact of immense importance appears to have been lost to history. Until, sixty years later, clues to its survival emerge from the wreckage of a cargo plane discovered deep beneath the surface of the Philippine Sea . . .

NUMA Director Dirk Pitt and his old friend Al Giordino already have their hands full dealing with the recovery of a top secret hypersonic missile that went down in the Luzon Strait. Especially when it becomes clear that a rogue Chinese military team has its sights set on the same prize. And that, after making their own earth-shattering discovery about what lies below the waves, they're prepared to go to any lengths to ensure that they possess it.

Any lengths at all.

From the cold, dark depths of the Pacific Ocean to the vertiginous peaks of the Himalayas, only Pitt, his son and daughter, Summer and Dirk Jr, can unravel the mysteries that will preserve a religion, save a nation, and bring the world back from the brink of war.

The Devil's Sea is white-knuckled adventure in the finest Cussler tradition, delivering a thrilling new masterpiece of page-turning intrigue and exhilarating suspense. Not for nothing was Clive Cussler known as the 'grand master of adventure'.

A good read all the time

Love a good Dirk story

Although the normally sharp as a tac members of NUMA were on the case, all of them had seemingly left their collective brains elsewhere!
Enter Dirk, Al, Summer and Dirk junior to take up the slack and avert catastrophe.
Limping from one desperate situation to another, the two teams of Dirk and Al and Dirk Jr and his sister, showed the Chinese soldiers just who they were messing with!
A very imaginative storyline with quite a few twists and turns to keep the reader interested. I'm already looking forward to the next Dirk Pitt book in my library!!

The cunning Chinese get a bloody nose from NUMA

It was a good story read well by Scott Brick, but his Australian accent needs a lot of work (think Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins and you'll get the idea) if it wasn't for that it would have been great.

Great story

I loved the storyline following both Pitt sr and juniors. I agree with another reviewer that Scott Brick is perfect for reading these books but, his Australian accent needs work.

Fantastic story

Narrator cannot do Australian accents - it was like listening to an cockney eastender from London.
Don't want to put a spoiler here but the story is sort of split over two separate storylines which are not really related.
Finally, the idea of the Dalai Lama helping the US Army develop a missile system is ludicrous.

Storylines a little disjointed
