Enjoyed it until the end

I really enjoyed listening to this. I enjoyed the US story very much. All the stories were compelling and kept me listening but I just didn't get the end, whether that is me not listening properly, I don't know - I finished thinking I had to listen to another book to get answers, but the next book is a different stories.

Shiver down the spine stuff as usual

Another high class offering from Tim Weaver.
I feel like David Raker is a friend I had always thought he was in his early 40s and imagined him as such especially with his young and energetic voice : however if his daughter is 33 , which I was reminded of this time round , that clearly is not the case and I will have to put a few grey hairs onto his head I I especially love the stories where the usual David Raker narrator is speaking; but when the voice was given to someone else in the other stories that was fine too. I am looking forward to “the blackbird “ next year. Thank you Tim and thank you Audible.

Wow, you’ve done it again !!!!!

Tim, you have me hooked from the opening paragraph. Having listened to you whilst laying by a pool, enjoying a long awaited holiday, you made it just perfect. Here’s hoping I don’t have to wait too long for my next “David” fix. The story line has you memorised and you never fail to tick all the boxes. Thank you for yet another “best seller”.

First taste of Weaver

Being honest I only bought the book because part of it is narrated by Brendan McDonald. I could listen to him 24/7. Turns out his performance didn’t disappoint and the others were pretty strong too. The stories held their own and I will certainly be exploring Weavers other works.

Unfortunately not what I have come to expect

With this book there is a clear woke narratives like the last 2 it is a real shame that the author has strayed from the path.
With the cliffhanger of the previous book not even mentioned it’s very disappointing. The fact that it is not a normal novel in the normal way. Rather a four part series was also disappointing. The first story was quite gripping the other three almost like a bit of a cut out of previous stories put together to make a new book which is a real shame. I hope the next one in the series goes back to its roots.

Worth a credit!

I enjoyed this story more than expected! Well narrated, easy to follow but with twists and mystery . Kept me interested all through , All in all worth the credit!

got lost at the end

it was a great story until the US bit and I got totally lost. maybe I wasn't concentrating but less enjoyable with the 4 strands. felt like story 1 was full length and the others were shoved into 2 hours.

Excellent but too many unanswered questions!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, hooked me pretty quickly, I found all 4 stories excellent but they are never tied up, I finished the book with too many unanswered questions which is quite frustrating. The US story was interesting but completely irrelevant and didn't seem to have any connection to the other stories as suggested.

I was hooked by the subway story which for some reason just seemed to end abruptly, it was mentioned slightly later in the book but no conclusion.

Despite coming away feeling like I've read part 1, I would still recommend the book as it's kept me thoroughly entertained for a few days.

The Shadow at the Door

After the previous non David Raker novel I was pleased to see that Tim Weaver had penned another but with a different format this time. All of the four different cases were connected in a deceptively clever way. For a newbie some kind of knowledge of Raker's previous cases may prove useful but it's not essential.

All of the narrators were excellent.

David Raker... the PI series that deluvers

This rollercoaster series delivers on every level. Thrilling, unpredictable, edge of your seat stuff.
This book can be read as a standalone to introduce you at a late stage to David. Intriguing story and complex. I guarantee you will want to start at the beginning of the series. I am already starting again. Enjoy.
