Evergreen

I first listened this in weekly parts on Radio 2 when it was first produced. Its as fresh as ever and covers the events superbly. Still carried away with this dramatization with excellent narration.

An excellent end to a great trilogy

This instalment is like the rest in the series. A great story brought to life by a great cast. An excellent listen.

makes me cry every time & want to start it again!

from the 10 year old to the now 35 year old this series has never failed to keep me enchanted, scared and amused, and no doubt it will until I go deaf in my dotage!

Just fabulous

I’ve been listening to this production on audio cassette, CD and now digital download since I was a kid. It’s as gripping and moving today as it ever was.

Great

Another great effort. All the cast do a wonderful job & all the voices are spot on. This came out before the films & was originally in 13 parts - now condensed into 3. I remember first listening to this more years ago then I'd like to admit & I still think it's fantastic. Excellent.

A Brilliant Listen

I listened to this when it was first broadcast on the radio, a long time ago now. I always thought it was a pity that Old Man Willow, Tom Bombadill and The Barrow Downs weren't included but it is still a brilliant dramatization of the book. Thoroughly recommend this.

Great way to reread the set of books

I have read the books and watched the films and realised bits were changed or missing so it was good to be able to sit back and listen whilst spotting where the changes had been made. The dramatisation was good and added to the overall atmosphere and story telling. I would recommend this to any Lord of the rings fan. I enjoyed the experience greatly.
