About this listen

An Officio Assassinorum story.

On the Knight World of Dominion, a Vindicare and a Callidus Assassin are tasked with eliminating a seditious leader and safely steering a pro-Imperial candidate to the throne.

Listen to it because....

Kingmaker shows the fascinating relationship between two very different temples of the Assassinorum, as two agents navigate the complex social hierarchy of a Knight World. The stakes are high and the pressure is on, for an Imperial war effort hinges on them executing their duty before disaster strikes.

The story:

The Officio Assassinorum safeguards the future of humanity. Its agents are the bloody-handed, secret saviours of the Imperium, killers charged with achieving the impossible...and Vindicare assassin Absolom Raithe has just been handed the most difficult assignment of his career.

The Knight World of Dominion is on the verge of seceding from the Imperium, its court riven by factionalism and ruled by an increasingly unhinged monarch. With the aid of the shapeshifting Callidus assassin Sycorax, Raithe must remove the king from his throne—and safely steer a pro-Imperial candidate to victory through the brutal succession crisis that will inevitably ensue. His team will need to infiltrate a world steeped in chivalric codes, where every move risks discovery and every threat pilots an adamantine monster...for if the assassins fail, and Dominion falls, the entire sector will be plunged into darkness.

Political intrigue, three Assassin Temples and Knightly Houses, combine to make an interesting story.

Ending in an Imperial victory or crushing defeat by the Arch Traitor.?

It is worth a listen as it is well delivered and has a great storyline, hope to have other Execution Force books in the future.!

An engaging and well written mix between Knight lore and Assasinorum lore. At times rushing some aspects and throwing a few too many characters in the reader's face without really digging deep into most of them. However the four main characters were all decently fleshed out and explored.

The twists and turns were set up well and paid off, even if at the end some of the moral ambiguity is washed away from parts of the senario that enjoyed such back and forth.

The writing itself was creative, with very visceral descriptions of Knight combat. I'd recommend reading up on the 3 Assasinorum temples the book includes first to help see where the main characters are coming from as that is not explored a great deal. On the same token, one might need to look up the various Knights if you aren't familiar with the patterns.

Solid but short.

I won’t give spoilers but the story goes a lot deeper than that, political machinations within the Assassinorum make me think my job prospects lie elsewhere 😳 I am not a Knights fan but enjoyed learning the lore and history of these buffoons (and they are) the ending leaves it open to continue….. let’s hope BL let Robert Rath write it
