About this listen

Harry Bosch finds himself yet again in charge of a case that no one else will touch. This time his job is to nail the killer of hot shot black lawyer Howard Elias. Elias has been found murdered on the eve of going to court on behalf of Michael Harris, a man the LAPD believes guilty of the rape and murder of a twelve-year-old girl. Elias had let it be known that the aim of his civil case was not only to reveal the real killer but to target and bring down the racist cops who beat up his client during a violent interrogation.

Now it's all down to Bosch - and he's got to take a long, hard look at some of his colleagues in a police department that is rife with suspicion and hatred.

I love the Harry Bosch books and am currently listening to them all in order. After Dick Hill's wonderful narration on the previous books Peter Giles's takes a while to get used to. Initially it sounds like every line is being said like it's the tag line on a movie trailer but stick with it and you will get so absorbed in the story that it won't matter. I got used to the narration as the book went on and it didn't bother me after a while.
The story is great, as they have all been so far, plenty of gritty police in fighting and intrigue as well as a case complicated enough that you won't guess the outcome straight away.
I'm off to listen to the next one now!

Another great Harry Bosch tale

What made the experience of listening to Angels Flight the most enjoyable?

The complex and twisting plot was very good. If Dick Hill had still been the narrator, I would have probably listened to this in 2 or 3 days. However, Peter Giles is not a superb narrator, his voice and style are irritating

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voice, style and presentation are pretentious and unnecessarily gruff. He is unable to vary his pitch enough to accommodate female characters. Bring back Dick Hill, who has a stunning ability to tell a good story.

I honestly don't know if I can stand another book narrated by Giles.

Very disappointed with Peter Giles as a narrator

The story seemed a bit slow to start off but picked up the pace along the line. A very good listen.

Michael Connelly never fails to entertain

Powerful story, well read and delivered. The Prime TV version is missing so many dimensions from the Bosch character. It's such a shame.

Excellent
