Going Dark is the debut crime thriller from former covert specialist Detective Sergeant Neil Lancaster.

Tom Novak is a troubled soul with a dark and bloody past. A former refugee, Royal Marine, and member of the elite Special Reconnaissance Regiment, he now finds himself struggling with the deadening routine of day-to-day policing. When he is deployed undercover to infiltrate a gang of people-traffickers, things go badly wrong. Faced with an impossible choice, his cover is blown and he finds himself on the run from the Serbian mafia and even his fellow police colleagues. With no-one to trust, and his enemies using all the resources of the state against him, Tom has only one option: to Go Dark.

“If you like your thrills fast, gritty and authentic as all hell, then Going Dark should be top of your reading list." TONY PARSONS©2017 Neil Lancaster (P)2019 W. F. Howes Ltd Crime Thrillers Suspense Thriller Thriller & Suspense Crime Fiction Exciting

although I enjoyed it , it did seem a little far fetched - at every stage he met just the right contact with just the right equipment at just the right time . I didn't feel any real jeopardy- if something went wrong he spotted the trap , overpowered the baddies and barely broke sweat . Unique special forces assassins popping up to save his skin , nodding knowingly and disappearing conveniently with the bodies .I was more concerned for the health of James Bond fighting the rubber alligator

Everyone was too good!

Great book - can’t wait for the next instalment. Good twists and turns from an author who knows his subject. Good to get SRR into a book too...

Fabulous new author!

Good story but a really terrible narrator.

It’s like he can only read in italics or bold, his emphasis and enunciation is bizarre. Unfortunately it makes the story really hard to follow. It massively detracts, I’m of the belief that the narrator should either add a huge amount to the experience or at the very worst be unnoticeable and unremarkable.

This chap is an awful reader.

Definitely the best British crime thriller, I have listened too in a long time. I would compare it to the Noah Wolf series.
