If you like I go into this thinking it’s a space adventure story you will be thinking otherwise by the ending. It’s one of those books you should re-read.

Few British novels have been as eccentric or, ultimately, as influential as Scottish writer David Lindsay's A Voyage to Arcturus. First published in 1920, it produced enormous enthusiasm in CS Lewis, who recommended it to Tolkien. Compares to Bunyan and Machen, while Walpole, Corvo, Hodgson, ER Eddison, Barrington Bayley, and even Mervyn Peake also come to mind. Lindsay's engrossing book, a mixture of metaphysics and surreal dream-quest, stands as one of the great originals.
Superb performance by Steve John Shepherd, possibly the best I have heard on Audible for characterisation.

I had hopes of an interesting listen, but was very disappointed by the random nonsense of this audiobook, which became, increasingly, irritating and boring, even at twice the speed! All the many novel names – people, places and colours made it even more confusing, being an audiobook. The plot if there was one, was in consequential and illusive…
