n 1977 Roisin Meaney finished a sentence and won a car. The sentence was 'I would like to win a Ford Fiesta because my father won't let me drive his.' Over the following 24 years she wrote a lot more sentences and won a lot more prizes. In 2001 she finally decided to keep writing sentences until she filled a book. Since then she's written thirteen adult novels and two children's books. Her work has been translated into German, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch and Italian, with a three book Russian translation deal in the pipeline. Two of her books have also been published in the US: Semi-Sweet (previously Love in the Making) and Life Drawing for Beginners (previously The Things We Do for Love), and her three most recent books have also been published in Australia and New Zealand by Hachette Australia. All of Roisin's novels have made it into the Irish bestseller list, with The Last Week of May (2007) going all the way to the top, and The People Next Door (2008) and The Reunion (2016) reaching number two. Three other books, One Summer (2012), After the Wedding (2014) and I'll Be Home for Christmas (2015) form a trilogy; all are set on Roone, a small island off the west coast of Ireland, and all three feature the same basic cast of characters. Her thirteenth book, The Reunion, was published in July 2016, and spent six weeks in the Irish bestseller list. She's currently working on the next, due for publication in June 2017, and she's also having fun with two picture book ideas.
