About this listen

The sparkling new novel from the best-selling Irish author Roisin Meaney.

When Chef Emily is left at the altar in front of her family and friends, she swears off love and instead throws herself into her new business: a restaurant with a difference. There's only one communal table, designed with the single diner in mind.

Now it's two years later, and with her business thriving with regular customers, romance is still the last thing on Emily's mind - until she receives a letter from her ex who is returning home from Canada with a burning question for her....

Will Emily give up her business for the life she used to want, or will she realise that happiness might be on the menu a little closer to home?

Loved this story, told from multiple viewpoints by characters whose lives are weaved together by the restaurant of the title. This is a kind and engrossing book: you feel as though you're sitting at the table with them, then travelling home to get an insight into their lives.
Roisin Meaney tells this story so well in this manner, really enjoy it.

Another engrossing read from Roisin Mealney

Captivating small town tale that is simply but beautifully interwoven. Potentially everybody’s village and neighbours within intricate plots with eloquently rounded characters. A most enjoyable listen in the style of a modern Middlemarch.

Wonderful -Maeve Binchy all over again, perhaps with a little edge, but with the same cast of delightfully warm and real characters, all with their own faults and problems, and all with intriguing life situations. The war story in particular had me in tears, all the more so because it reflects the reality of what really happened to so many people. This is a lovely book - the ending is perhaps a bit too cosy, but don’t we all need a bit of belief in friendship and people being good to one another? I enjoyed every minute of it, especially as the narration was absolutely perfect too. I would give it more stars if I could.

Absolutely lovely

Didn’t know what to expect as this is the first book I have tried of Roisin Meaney. It was just what I needed and I loved it. After having not really got on with my last few ‘reads’ all that well, I am delighted to have found an author that I really like. Hopefully this will be the first of many enjoyable listens by Roisin. Narration was excellent too by Shelley Atkinson - empathic to the characters and soothing to listen to. A winner all round.

Such a delight
