Michael Baker, LCMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families heal from the deep impact of attachment wounds. His passion for this work is both professional and personal. After losing his mother to cancer at age 12, he developed a firsthand understanding of how early loss and emotional injuries shape the way we connect, love, and protect ourselves. Michael approaches healing not as a finish line, but as an ongoing process—one that requires self-compassion, courage, and a willingness to face old patterns with new eyes. His work blends clinical insight with lived experience, offering tools that are both practical and transformative. Originally from a small Kansas town, Michael has lived in cities like Seattle but now resides in Wichita, Kansas, where the skies are wide, the wind never quits, and the weather has commitment issues. He shares life with his son and two wildly entertaining dogs, Kiki and Koko, who ensure the house is rarely quiet and never dull. Whether in the therapy room or writing his next book, Michael’s style is real, relatable, and grounded in the belief that everyone is capable of meaningful change.
