Martin Francom is a retired pharmacist and programmer who spent a career solving other people's problems and now spends his retirement inventing new ones for his characters. His stories move from the fog and old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest to the humid weight of the Depression-era South, into the darker rooms of the human soul most people would rather not enter. A member of the Kitsap Literary Arts and Writers Guild (KLAW), Martin has built a catalog of nearly a hundred titles spanning Pacific Northwest Gothic, Southern Gothic noir, frontier fiction, and speculative science fiction, drafted with the help of modern writing tools but shaped, revised, and finished entirely by hand. If you're new to his work, his most recent titles — including the Southern Gothic Noir drama series "Blood on the Dogwood", also adapted as a stage play, screenplay, and radio-theatre play — are the place to start. The same restless curiosity runs through everything else on the shelf, from the grounded Pacific Northwest history of "Gig Harbor" and "Port Gamble" to the cosmic reach of "The Last Transmission". You're as likely to find Martin at a book signing or author meet-and-greet somewhere on the Kitsap Peninsula as you are to find him online — he'd rather hand you a book and hear what you thought of the last one than let a star rating do the talking. When he's not at an event or at his desk, he's tending goats, alpacas, chickens, and ducks on his backyard farm, or in his hammock with a cold beer or lemonade, watching a hot summer day slow down.
