When Dr. Mark Heyman was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 1999, he experienced firsthand the unique mental health challenges of people with T1D. As a diabetes psychologist and Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES), his mission is to ensure everybody with T1D has the support they need. He is passionate about providing diabetes education and evidence-based mental health treatment and online programs to people with diabetes. Mark received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University and completed his psychology internship at the UCSD School of Medicine. Dr. Mark lives in San Diego with his wife, Gayle, and daughter Hannah.
