Kyra, from the moment she was born, had a love of the Rocky Mountains, where she travelled often with her grandfather, whom she affectionately calls Papa Rick. Becoming a Children's book author and developing our character, Kaboose the Rocky Mountain Bear was inspired by plush toys from Kyra's daycare. Papa Rick had his father's steam toy train set with a red caboose displayed in their mountain home. Kyra loved the word caboose and would often run around yelling out the word caboose. The word caboose captured Kyra's imagination, and the popularity of bears in the Rocky Mountains created our main character, Kaboose the Rocky Mountain Bear. "K" in Kaboose stands for Kyra. Kyra, at a young age, asked her Papa Rick if they could turn their adventures into written stories. They bought a journal at the local market, started writing their first book and created drawings of these adventures. The first book is "The Adventures of Kaboose the Rocky Mountain Bear." The adventures are based on all of the outdoor recreational activities that Kyra and her Papa Rick recorded through photos over the years in the Rocky Mountains. Kyra and Papa Rick knew right from the get-go that they had many stories to write with the desire to turn "The Adventures of Kaboose, the Rocky Mountain Bear" into a Children's Book Series. Through the adventures of Kaboose, her family, friends and community, Kyra hopes you will unearth a special bond with outdoor recreation and community-building with Mother Nature. Kyra is currently working towards a career in healthcare; however, she has many adventures she has shared with her Papa Rick, Nana Brendalee, her cousins, Leland, Bailey, and Cooper and sister Kaitlyn and has a strong desire to bring these stories to life in the days, months and years to come.
