James Ward is a privacy lawyer and data strategist based at the University of Oxford Internet Institute. His scholarship focuses on the interaction between legal structures, connected technologies, and human autonomy. Mr. Ward is the founder and managing partner of Ward PLLC, a law firm and data strategy consultancy. Jay is a certified Fellow in Information Privacy, holds certifications in European and United States data security and privacy law (CIPP/E and CIPP/US), and privacy program management (CIPM). Prior to Ward PLLC, Mr. Ward was a seasoned litigator with more than a decade’s experience in high stakes litigation, including intellectual property, financial services, and consumer class actions.
