Irma Fritz was born of German parents in Ukraine and grew up in a German town whose name most people can’t pronounce. Like Samina in When There Was No Moon, Irma has always been curious about the world beyond the courtyard walls of her home. After completing high school, she moved to California, where she studied writing at California State University at Los Angeles and worked at Hollywood PR agencies. As a press agent she met celebrities like Lily Tomlin, Julie Andrews, Burt Reynolds, and Andy Williams. She attended an L.A. Zoo fundraiser where James Stewart rode in on an elephant; shared an Orange Julius with Neil Diamond at a Hollywood carwash and accompanied him in his private limo to his Hollywood Bowl performance; turned down Alex Trebek’s dinner invitation; visited Rod Steiger at his “Malibu Colony” home; interviewed Dick Van Dyke in Cave Creek, AZ when he’d moved away from fast-paced Hollywood; supervised a press interview at the iconic Polo Lounge with The Mamas &The Papas singer Michelle Phillips to advertise her movie debut in Dennis Hopper’s The Last Movie; oversaw a photoshoot at composer Henry Mancini’s Holmby Hills mansion; a fashion shoot with Katherine Crosby at Pebble Beach to promote husband Bing’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf Tournament; and was treated to a personal tour of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion West by Playmate Barbi Benton. Irma bicycled across the U.S. and lived in the Canadian bush country before her serendipitous life journey took her to Seattle. There, she worked in banking administration and human resources. A friend tricked her into a date with the handsome, young man, who is now her husband. Her new novel, "When There Was No Moon," won First Place in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association (PNWA) 2022 Unpublished Literary Novel Contest. Previous works by Irma Fritz are the novels "Confessions of a Predatory Lender" and "The Season of Singing;" and "Dear Sugar & Other Sorrows," a collection of short stories. Irma's books are sold at Amazon and most online booksites. Please join her on Goodreads or connect with her on Facebook.
