Dennis Waller is an author, publisher, and musician who crafts narratives at the intersection of gritty realism and high-concept philosophy. As the founder of Rare Square Publishing, based in Onalaska, Texas, he has built a creative stable that bridges the gap between his academic background and a deep-seated passion for atmospheric, character-driven storytelling.

The "Zen-Noir" Specialist
Waller is widely recognized for his signature "Zen-Noir" and Southern Gothic aesthetics, where objects and environments carry as much weight as the dialogue.

The Shanghai Ghost: His flagship thriller that explores the "straight-line" heart of an American veteran in the smoke and steel of 1920s Shanghai.

The Max Drexler Series: A collection of works published under this distinct noir persona, further expanding his exploration of hardboiled justice and philosophical grit.

Obsession: A haunting, character-driven dark romance that explores the thin, dangerous line between passion and psychological entrapment.

The "Nevermore" Anthologies & Dark Mystery
Expanding the boundaries of the macabre, Waller curates and contributes to the Nevermore series.

Forever Nevermore: A highly anticipated 3rd anthology in the Nevermore series is slated for release in October 2026, showcasing Waller's ability to weave together diverse voices of dark suspense.

The Werewolf Chronicles: Featuring titles like The Reckoning of Sandra Harrison and its sequel The Blood of the Hunter, this series is often released under the name of his collaborator and wife, Teresa Esquivel-Waller, to maintain the appearance of a multi-author publishing stable.

Metaphysics & Eastern Philosophy
Beyond the shadows of fiction, Waller explores the "luminous void" where science and spirituality meet. His philosophical catalog includes:

The Snow Leopard and the Owl: Zen at the Edge of the World: A profound exploration of Zen themes and Eastern thought.

The Esoteric Art of Living: Metaphysics of Quantum Physics: A rigorous study on the intersection of modern physics and ancient spirituality.

A Multi-Sensory Experience
Waller’s creativity extends into the auditory realm through The Dennis Waller Collective. As a songwriter and producer, he develops "Blue-Collar" and "Outlaw" country rock companion albums that mirror the atmospheric depth of his books, ensuring that in his world, the grit is felt as much as it is read.

Whether navigating the treacherous docks of Old Shanghai or the intricate fault lines of quantum metaphysics, Waller’s work remains anchored in a single, uncompromising truth: In a world of shifting allegiances, survival is the only respected philosophy.
