About this listen

I ruined his life.

It was my investigation that sent his father to jail. It was my fault his mother killed herself shortly after. I’ve regretted it every day since. When he shows up in my Journalism class, I know I’m in trouble.

Cullen Ayers wants to make me pay. His torment becomes my life, and I endure every moment because I deserve it. What started as revenge quickly turns into lust. He’s only eighteen, and I should be ashamed of how good this feels when we’re alone, but I can’t help myself. I’m in too deep. I’m starting to discover his family’s secrets go far deeper than I first thought. The more I uncover, the more ways he finds to punish me.

Cullen wants to ruin me for life, and I’m afraid he already has.

This title was previously published in the Tangled Sheets anthology as Spitfire but has a new title, cover and added content!

Warning: This is a dark, bully romance with explicit content that may be triggering to some listeners, including dub-con, abuse, and murder. Cullen Ayers is covered in red flags, but the bigger the bully, the better the redemption.

Burn for Me has a unique storyline that is captivating, dangerous, hot and full of suspense with some unexpected twists and turns. It is a reverse age gap, bully, student/teacher dark romance. It covers a lot of different tropes and has many potential triggers in it. I've never actually read a reverse age gap romance so it felt a little different to me considering their rather unusual connection but I enjoyed the storyline and would listen to more books by Sara Cate. Allie Martina and Gideon Frost both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.

Captivating!

This is one hot commodity! Both the storyline and the delivery by two excellent narrators, make this a compelling, intense listen which hss kept me in its grip throughout! The plot involves deep passion of across the full gamut, from hate and the desire for revenge, to lust, control and love. Both Evelyn and Cullen seem isolated, though Evelyn does have one close friend and a family, while Cullen truly seems to be alone. I have felt totally involved with the outcomes of this collision of two seemingly very different people! 💖💖💖💖💖

Sara Cate never ceases to amaze me with her fabulous writing style and brilliantly creative and maybe even a little twisted mind, ok maybe a lot twisted. Twisted or not, she has a knack for grabbing her readers and/or audiobook listeners’ attention and holding it hostage for her entire book, heck she even has you feeling for the villain of the story and then rooting for him. And that is exactly what happens in “Burn for Me”, this story may not be an easy one and it may even take you out of your comfort zone but hang on because it is so worth the wild and crazy ride. The story starts out giving you a glimpse in a day of Everly West’s life, an investigative journalist who was working on a piece that started when she was a grad student interning at the Florence Times, all the time and work paid off and the trial for George Ayers ended in a conviction and jail time. She knew he had a wife and a son, even saw them in the trial room, saw the hate in the son’s eyes, but she did not think of them much afterwards. The story jumps to the present which is eight years later, she has left her position at the Times to teach journalism at Florence University and this is where her past comes back to haunt her, Cullen Ayers, George Ayers’ son is a student in her class and he does not hold back with his hate for her. He blames her for ruining his life and he is going to make her pay by making her life a living hell. Cullen plays on her every nerve and emotion, so much so she loses her all her facilities and smarts to not only fight him off but fight him back too. ls it bad that I wanted to smack some sense in her head at first, I get her guilt for not doing more for him when he was younger she tried to placate him and redirect his hate but Cullen was blinded by his hate for so long it absorbed him. But things start to turn around, feeling develop and he starts to open his eyes. This is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance, I loved the originality of it and that it not your typical bully romance or typical age gap romance. The story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, some are gut-wrenching too. Sara Cate, thank you for another amazing story & emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Sara Cate chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life, Allie Martina and Gideon Frost are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that was the right fit for their character’s persona, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Allie Martina played Everly with perfection, grasped all sides of her personality and her vulnerability. Gideon Frost did the same for Cullen, nailing the hate, bringing out his inner turmoil and lightening it up towards the end. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

8 years ago Journalist Everly brought a human trafficker George Ayers down with her evidence . On her first day at her new job as a university tutor she realises the boy that was 10 when his dad was convicted is in her class. Cullen Ayers is out to torment her for what she did to his family and how his life has been since. However there’s a fine line between love and hate and things don’t turn out quite as he planned. Fabulous story loved Cullen and Everly and the things they both went through to get where they were at the end had me sat on the edge of my chair in anticipation. Excellent narration from Allie and Gideon.
