September 1914: The world is at war, and Europe is in flames. Paris had just fallen to the German forces of Kaiser Wilhelm, and the Entente forces are reeling back in disarray. With the fall of Paris, France is in dire straits, and General Joffre, its commander-in-chief, is relieved of command. The two allies meet in London to see how the war can be prosecuted from that point.

January 1915. The Great War is now in full swing, and almost every nation in Europe has been dragged into it. Now, the Greeks and the Romanians are about to enter the conflict. The Romanian offensive into Transylvania, combined with the disastrous fall Austro-Hungarian offensive of 1914 and the encircled Przemysl fortress, are threatening to unhinge the Dual Monarchy and knock Austria-Hungary out of the war.

March-April 1915. The German High Sea Fleet sorties out of its harbors in Brest and St-Nazaire to challenge the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet once more, triggering a powerful naval battle. Meanwhile, a German battle squadron races south to reach German Southwest Africa. The Fleet's mission is to help the German Pacific Squadron, which will eventually sail out of the Atlantic via the Cape Horn. On land, both the Central Powers and the Entente are planning an offensive as Spring and early summer arrive.

The good weather has finally arrived, and the empires of Europe are ready to hurl their armies and fleets at each other in a fight of titanic proportions. The stakes are high, with Austria-Hungary and France reeling on the brink of disaster.

The Galizien Sturm offensive is in full swing in the East. The Germans, under the command of General Paul von Hindenburg, have just stormed the Brest-Litovsk Fortress in Western Belarus. They now start their movement southward toward Western Ukraine to outflank General Brussilov. Meanwhile, General August Mackensen’s attack on the Przemysl Fortress continues with the obvious objective of pushing on to the main Russian Army supply hub in Lemberg.
