Man Made: The First Hour Summary

In this first volume of the science fiction thriller series, The Event, a mysterious force, tears around the globe, erasing anything man-made. Skyscrapers vanish with their occupants flailing to the ground, and jetliners disappear, leaving the passengers to plunge to their deaths. 

No one is killed directly, but hip replacements and dental work disappear, along with everything fashioned by the hand of man, from hydroelectric dams to museums to GMO crops. Governments, religions, corporations, and people of all nations struggle to find shelter, food, water, and to rebuild in its wake.  

Is it a natural phenomenon, a prelude to alien invasion, an act of God, or a reappearance of magic in the world? And most important, what (if anything) can we do to stop this potential extinction event, and how do we survive if we can't?
