Hear singer-songwriter Ray Davies on this edition of Fresh Air. Davies first became known as the leader of the band The Kinks, one of the great and enduring British bands to came out of the 60s. Davies' first solo record, Other People's Lives was released in 2006. While recording the album in New Orleans, he was shot in the leg by a man who stole his girlfriend's purse. Writer Andrew Solomon on this archive edition of Fresh Air. His book on depression, The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression, won a 2001 National Book Award. The work came out of a 1998 New Yorker magazine article. He drew on personal experience as well as interviews with patients, physicians, philosophers and drug designers. Writer/producer Judd Apatow and novelist, screenwriter and biographer, A.E. Hotchner on this edition of Fresh Air. Judd Apatow's new series for FOX is called Undeclared. He's billed as the creator/executive producer. It's about a group of geeky college freshmen. Apatow also worked on the Emmy award winners Freaks and Geeks and The Ben Stiller Show.

British comedian, stand-up performer, and actor Eddie Izzard on this edition of Fresh Air. Izzard is currently selling out venues in the U.S. and Canada with his new stand-up show Circle. He has won over fans with his quirky comedy and his cross-dressing. The Chicago Tribune says, "Izzard lives up to his billing. He's very bright, very fast, and very hip."

Building demolition experts Stacey and Doug Loizeaux and remembering newspaper editor and anti-apartheid activist Donald Woods on this edition of Fresh Air. Stacey and Doug Loizeaux are niece and uncle and are part of the family-owned demolition company, Controlled Demolition, of Maryland.

Journalist David Remnick and former two-time heavyweight champion of the world George Foreman on this edition of Fresh Air. David Remnick is the author of the book King of the World, about heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. Remnick is editor of The New Yorker Magazine and is also the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Lenin's Tomb. In 1974, in what was called the "Rumble in the Jungle", Foreman took on Muhammad Ali in Zaire for the world heavyweight title.

Spanish and Portuguese professor Maria Rose Menocal and writer, musician, and broadcaster Jamie Bernstein Thomas on this edition of Fresh Air. Maria Rose Menocal is a R. Selden Rose Professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Director of the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University.
