This story originally appeared in the anthology Protectors 2, edited by Thomas Pluck. It is based loosely upon several cases I worked during my years riding with Bikers Against Child Abuse. The influence of my mentor, Andrew Vachss, is clearly evident. It is about a member of a motorcycle club similar to BACA who went above and beyond, throwing it all away for a girl under his protection, who died when he was prevented from helping her. This is a hard story to hear and will leave a lasting impact.

They are a continuation of the way in which I seek to convey unto you what my soul yearns to express. In simple words that paint as if they are an art form all their own. Words can be crafted by the manner in which they are aligned. Which word follows one another. Then the use of punctuation and spacing to induce one to pause and give reflection. These poems are mine, yet they are of the cosmos meant to be heard and shared.

The Sunflower Fields is the first in The Canticles series. It is a collection of words which became poems of my soul. They are meant for you the reader to enjoy as you move the words across your tongue and mind speaking them to your own soul. Each poem is about the beauty which is within the flowers which follow the sun in their day to day existence seeking its rays to grow and flourish. They are written by my hand, but they are not meant to be kept still upon the page. They are seeking to be released and, in that freedom, find your soul. Listen.

Far and Away is a true story about the journey which we all have begun. And it continues as we progress along the pathways. Written to inspire and encourage. The words are a poem from the soul. River of Stars is a volume of poems in a series. Poems are inspired by many different occurrences. River of Stars is just such a volume. The poems are inspired by the natural world and the cosmic realm. In them I find meaning, intrigue, and understanding as I seek to convey in simple concise statements what has caused me to stop and pause, then write. Each writing is simply just that, a writing. When one can write without debating the substance and the subject the words drift onto the page. The pen struggles to keep pace.

Circle Stories is a volume of poems written based on the way in which Native Americans kept oral history alive. This was done by having the oral history repeated at circle stories around scared fires. These are my poems in that tradition.
