Fear. It’s in each and every one of us. An inevitable component in all of our lives, like it or not. For some, it’s an almost imperceptible whisper in the back of our mind that gives us little more than a slightly uncomfortable nudge now and then. For others, it’s a virtually uncontrollable and debilitating sense of doom that grows stronger with each and every heartbeat. For most, it stays balanced somewhere in between the extremes.

The Lunatic Fringe Book is a collection of all 10 years of monthly articles written for Blue Skies magazine by Dean Ricci, a.k.a. The F***in' Pilot. Blue Skies magazine was the rebel publication. It was the new start-up that went out of its way to try to challenge people, entertain them, piss them off, make them think, keep them safer, and more than anything, embrace the amazing lifestyle that skydiving can offer to those who join its ranks. It talked about events and subjects that were borderline taboo not in the sport and the industry and in the culture.

One panicked lie, one impulsive moment, and suddenly he's half-naked in public, launching into a decade-long chain reaction of questionable choices, unexpected opportunities, and gravity-assisted life lessons. From telegram stripping in early 90s California to the chaos of the San Francisco rave scene, from Vegas stages to terminal velocity, Crucial follows a young man who is forced to reinvent himself every time the floor drops out-sometimes quite literally.
