The system did not make a mistake. It followed instructions written eight years ago. Federal policy analyst Nolan Mercer discovers an active directive buried beneath an old emergency-operations statute. Fourteen agencies have already begun complying, yet there is no current order, no identifiable reviewer, and no public record explaining why it became active. When Nolan requests a routine verification, the evidence disappears. His access is restricted. His inquiry is rewritten as something harmless.

SECONDARY CONTACT is a psychological suspense novel about what happens when systems quietly outlive the reasons they were created. When a father discovers that his name has been removed from his daughter’s school emergency contact form—and replaced with a stranger he’s never met—he assumes it’s a clerical error. It isn’t. The name was placed there deliberately, years earlier, as part of an arrangement his wife believed had expired. As he pushes for answers, he learns that the school isn’t acting alone.

When a quiet town accountant disappears after uncovering irregularities in Alder Hollow’s financial records, Deputy Nolan Varrick begins asking questions no one wants answered. Alongside outsider Dr. Callum Pryce, Nolan uncovers a hidden system of embezzlement buried beneath years of trust, routine, and institutional silence. But the closer they get to the truth, the clearer it becomes that someone in Alder Hollow is willing to protect the town’s secrets at any cost. A restrained procedural thriller about corruption, loyalty, and the danger of disturbing systems designed to stay hidden.

Daniel Harris has done nothing wrong. But after an administrative "reclassification," small changes begin to ripple through his life. A credit report shifts. An employment file flags. His daughter's school record updates. His stability is being scored.
