Parue en 1880, Boule de Suif a été depuis adaptée de nombreuses fois au théâtre, au cinéma, à la télévision. La mise en scène sonore de l’œuvre met en lumière toute l’ambiance si particulière du contexte historique de la guerre de 1870, et l’interprétation du narrateur et des dialogues amplifie la compréhension de l’extraordinaire analyse de l’auteur face à une société étriquée, dont l’hypocrisie est mise au grand jour. Le personnage principal, Boule de Suif, prostituée au grand cœur, n’en est que plus bouleversant.
