Emily, Carl and Jules have all ‘gone before their time’. After dying on the same day in Halifax, West Yorkshire, they each wake up in a room in a hotel on the outskirts of town. They’re instructed to meet in the basement headquarters of film production company ‘End Credits’, where no-nonsense producer Suzi tells them their lives have been secretly filmed and they must edit their own biopic before they are able to move on.

Danny has a new phone and wants to play on it, but his mum sends him upstairs to clear his Great Gran's box room. Danny finds an old photograph of a girl about his age and some small paintings tied in a red ribbon. When he undoes the ribbon, the girl from the photograph appears in the room. Her name is Kitty. She asks him to play a game with the pictures, but he is rude to her, saying he'd rather play on his phone. Kitty is offended and whisks him back to 1886, where the paintings are all real people. The game is that he has to find the person to help him unlock time to get back home.

After receiving a strange homemade book full of newspaper clippings that go back to the 1800s, our ghost hunting protagonist finds himself in the middle of a dilemma; risk it all or play it safe.

It is a muggy September on Galveston Island in 1900. A second-year medical student and his friends experience the strange legends of Jean Lafitte after a night on the town.
