Life in the settlement of Hope kept getting better by the day. Iris's talent with plants secured our food stores, and the boys from Loch Raven our safety. All we needed to worry about was improving our systems, like running water. Except for one lingering problem: the Druids. When their leader promised to destroy us, I decided that I wasn't going to stand there and wait for him. We decided to take the fight to him—to wipe out the Druids once and for all so we could finally experience peace.

With the help of a team from a nearby settlement, the rebuilding begins with a focus on safety. Their healer, Jessica, is as beautiful as she is tough. If we could convince her to stay in Hope that would be a huge advantage. More hands means less work, and soon we had a thriving garden and four livable homes. Things were going well, and life was simple and satisfying when we focused on the basics.

I thought volunteering to be put into cryostasis for three days would be a great way to make some extra cash.
