A zombie apocalypse was a ridiculous idea to people who were making plans to survive the end of the world. It has been five generations since the crew of the Circumstance landed on Lelana and deployed the quarantine shield to keep out the lethal nanovirus that spread among the stars. Since then, they have known nothing of what was happening beyond the shield. Joan Vaughn grew up on stories of the crew’s journeys through a universe she will never see, in a war that nearly ended everything. Then one day she stumbles upon a piece of history believed long lost. In recovering this piece of the past, she uncovers the one truth that the crew of the Circumstance kept from their descendants.
