Basketball tryouts are often the most stressful practices of the season, but they don't have to be. In this episode of The Hours, Tyler and Mark break down practical frameworks for evaluating talent, managing the bubble players, and making tough roster cuts with confidence.

Discover why running traditional drills can deceive your evaluation, how small-sided games reveal your true competitors, and why coaches need to trust their gut over outside pressure when finalizing their roster.

Every coach wants to move up the ladder—whether that means landing your first head coaching job or breaking through to the college and pro ranks. But while some coaches ascend year after year, others stay completely stuck.

In this episode of The Hours, Tyler and Mark draw from their experience coaching at every level (from youth leagues up to Division 1) to share the 12 Steps to Coaching Mastery. You'll learn why starting with "why" speeds up everything downstream, why your practice needs to get messy to translate to games, how understanding trade-offs completely rewrites your game plan, and the critical mindset shifts that separate team managers from program builders.

Plus, Tyler shares the Parable of the Rusty Sword—and why someone in your exact shoes would find a way to win right now.
