    4. Gabby Dizon, Co-Founder of Yield Guild Games On What Makes For A Good Play-To-Earn Economy
    Sep 26 2021
#EJSSaloon resumed normal service on 25 Aug, Wed evening 8pm (8am ET) with the live-taping of our new episode featuring Gabby Dizon, Co-Founder of Yield Guild Games. The company is a #decentralized #gaming outfit based in the Philippines that invests in and works with people who play games, like blockchain-based #AxieInfinity (a blockchain-based game where players breed and battle digital creatures named Axies in order to earn tokens called SLPs “Smooth Love Potion”), to earn #NFT rewards. Dizon sees this as a way to bridge the wealth gap, as players in his home country can make three times the local minimum wage by gaming. We got to ask him: 👾What’s the origin story of Yield Guild Games (YGG)? Why are the world’s biggest VCs such as Andreesen Horowtiz’s a16z now investing in guilds and clans like YGG? Are we now living in the future? 👾On Twitter and everywhere else, many people are super-proud members. The YGG badge is probably the first #NFT for a lot of people. Your discord server is also really heartwarming to see, with thousands of people from all over the world, predominantly Southeast Asia, organizing and creating high-paying jobs for thousands. How do you figure out what makes customers or followers tick? 👾What’s your 500ft view of NFTs, #Metaverse and Play-To-Earn? 👾How do people make money playing games? How do players make a living from playing games? 👾What makes for a good #PlayToEarn economy? Do you think current free-to-play video game developers can adjust but must adapt their mental models on what makes for a good economy that has much lower take rate and allows for different classes of player base? 👾What are #DAOs and what comes next for the gaming communities? 👾What are the play-to-earn metrics you measure obsessively? Is it more about how many lives have you changed and how their lives have changed for the better over DAUs and MAUs? 👾What’s the primary way to think about the YGG token? Can we call it the index of your farmable assets in the metaverse? 👾Why YGG will be the major economic force in the metaverse? 👾What’s the position that you play as YGG? Is it to make the metaverse as accessible to anyone who would want to enter it? 👾Which promising metaverses have you came across recently? Sandbox? Decentraland? What are some examples of recent virtual estates you have acquired for constructing guild headquarters, developing unique experiences and earning from them? 👾Would the incredible success story of NFT gaming in the Philippines be replicated across Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong, Europe, America and the rest of the world? 👾Why do you think metaverses are the best places for everyone, including 12 year old kids, to learn about creator economy, play-to-earn, crypto, blockchain, NFT and future of work? 👾Which of these two scenarios would you like to see happen more in households: Moms yelling at their 12 year old kids for not finishing their Axie Infinity daily quest OR completing their endless homework assignments?
