  • #126 Steve Miley: Technical Trading, Joining a Prop Firm, Achieving Prop Success
    Apr 4 2024

Steve Miley has a lifetime of experience in trading. He’s been a trader, an analyst and a mentor. He’s worked at some of the world’s leading trading firms, including investment banking giants Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse, having originally worked on the LIFFE trading exchange in the times of open outcry floor trading.

Steve is still active in all these fields, and now is involved with one of the new breed of Online Prop Trading firms called Tradeday, where prospective traders have to pass an exam prior to being giving a small sum of capital to trade.

In this interview with Mark and myself, Steve shared a lifetime of experience, including reflections on how best to use Technical Analysis and apply it into your work as a trader.

This is one of those interviews where you’ll hear great insights which could be valuable to you in your own work as a trader. This includes:

    · Understanding the edge of doing and applying good Technical Analysis, whereas most people are doing bad technical analysis which then undermines their trading,

    · He also shares some insights about the challenges traders face after they’ve been successful on a simulated environment, versus the trading they do with real money after having passed a prop trading entry test.

    · The emotional challenges of trading and dealing with losses and setback, and how this impacted Steve’s personal life.
