• Obi-Wan Kenobi Part VI
    Jul 7 2022

Tis the end of the Obi-Wan series. We give our thoughts on Part VI, as well as the series as a whole. We liked some things, but a lot of things were just too convenient or felt like bad writing. We also talk about the big reveals and whether we think there will be a second season. We hope you enjoy!

    2. Reva
    3. Anakin Skywalker
    4. Obi-wan

/r/PrequelMemes reddit post about the Obi-Wan Kenobi Season Finale - This is not the specific reddit post that Michael mentioned in the episode, but it is a very similar one. While we have a lot of issues with this show, it seems that the Star Wars community (in general) has embraced it positively. We're glad to see Disney doing their best to make something that the fans can really be happy about (even if we are not the happiest about it).

    Executor class Star Destoyer

Captain America saying, "I can do this all day."

Krrsantan - The Wookiee bounty hunter in The Book of Boba Fett. Also, it seems that Obi-Wan's tussle with Krrsantan happened in 10 BBY, one year before the events of this series.

Article from Men's Health, talking about Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor wanting to do another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although everyone else at Disney seems to be downplaying the possibility of a second season.

    Jun 28 2022

In this episode we talk about Reva's motivations, the reduction in plot conveniences, and our predictions for the season finale. After watching Part V, we're a bit more reserved with our excitement and are really just curious about how they're going to tie up all the loose ends. And although we have issues with this episode (as we honestly have with every episode), there are a lot of good things that we really liked seeing.

Article talking about the rumor of Reva getting her own series. Now, whether this is true... we have no idea. Personally, here at SYF we do not believe that Reva deserves her own series. Her character is mediocre at best.

Entertainment Weekly article that interviews cast and crew about the (then) upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Here's a specific excerpt where Kathleen Kennedy talks about overhauling the script:

"However, as the crew came together to work toward a summer 2020 production start date, Kennedy became concerned with the direction of the scripts. 'We're looking, ultimately, to make a hopeful, uplifting story,' says the studio head. Believing an overhaul was in order, Kennedy temporarily shut down production in January 2020, pushed back the filming start date from August 2020 to January 2021, and hired a new writer, Joby Harold, to take over from Hossein Amini."

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi Part IV
    Jun 11 2022

In this episode, we talk about Obi-Wan Kenobi Part IV. We talk about how the plot conveniences have gotten worse instead of better, how Disney has made Star Wars more kid-friendly (much to its detriment), and our hopes for Liam Neeson reprising his role as Qui-gon Jinn.

Wookieepedia - All things Star Wars.

Part IV - The Wookieepedia entry for this episode.

    Fortress Inquisitorius

    Roken - AKA Rodney.

The Book of Boba Fett - The series starring Boba Fett that we covered in the first 6 episodes of this podcast.

Freck - We gotta order for Freck!? Order for Freck. One big hot steaming pile of order for Freck.

Wade Resselian and Sully - 2 characters we barely know anything about.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - The Star Wars video game that is all about the Inquisitors. We highly recommend this game.

Purge Trooper - Special troopers trained to kill Jedi.

The Peacing Out meme - Hilarious.

It is confirmed that Liam Neeson will be returning to the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in the upcoming series "Tales of The Jedi."

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III
    Jun 10 2022

We start off this episode by recapping some things that we missed, or didn't go over in our previous episodes about this series. We also wonder how the writing of this show is going to avoid a lot of seemingly likely plot holes. Big plot holes that would be very apparent if not addressed properly and glossed over simply for the sake of plot convenience. Which, while we enjoyed this episode immensely, happens quite a bit.

Other than that, we get to see a lot more of Vader, we get some new characters, and we learn more about what the surviving Jedi are doing after The Great Jedi Purge. It's a great episode and it's awesome seeing Obi-Wan go from this shadow of what he once was, to becoming a Jedi again. Something he's really struggling with.

Kenobi: Part III - The Wookieepedia entry for this episode.

Pau'ans - The species of aliens that the Grand Inquisitor comes from.

Mapuzo -  The planet that almost this entire episode takes place on.

    The Underground Railroad

LA Times article addressing Moses Ingram backlash

Joshua Tree National Park in California.

Owen Kenobi - Even though Owen Lars being Obi-Wan's brother is not canon, in a few different sets of media, he is referred to as such.

    Game of Thrones

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II
    Jun 4 2022

Part II! It's a little surprising that they released the first 2 parts of this series simultaneously, although we're not mad about it. In this episode, we talk a bit more about what we think of the characters, how this fits into the rest of the Star Wars universe, and what we'd like to see in the future. There are only going to be 6 episodes of this series (at least for this season, although I don't know if they're going to make another one), so there's only so much they can do. Although we cannot wait for more episodes.

Wookieepedia - All things Star Wars.

Kenobi: Part II - The Wookieepedia entry for this episode.

Daiyu - The planet where this entire episode takes place.

501st Legion - Anakin Skywalker's personal clone legion.

212th Attack Battalion - Obi-Wan's personal clone trooper battalion.

Temuera Morrison - The actor who plays all of the clones.

We didn't know this at the time of recording, but apparently, the character Tetha Grig (the girl in the pink hair that gives Obi-Wan drugs) is actually played by Ewan McGregor's (Obi-Wan) real daughter, Esther McGregor.

Liam Neeson - AKA Qui-Gon Jinn.

The Book of Boba Fett - The series that we covered in the first 6 episodes of this podcast.

We mentioned a Star Wars book in this episode but we could not find that book anywhere. It's a Legends book, during the time of Luke Skywalker re-building the Jedi Order on Yavin 4. That's all we know. Although if anybody knows the name of the book, please feel free to contact us via syfpodcast.com

Kumail Nanjiani - The actor who plays Haja Estree

Breaking Bad - An amazing TV show that is a must-watch for anyone who loves drama.

Dune - A sci-fi movie that's based on the Dune novel written by Frank Herbert in 1965.

Spice - This is still in debate, on whether spice is a specific drug or a general term for drugs. Although looking at the quote from Ahsoka Tano ("Many things can be made out of spice, and they're not all good."), maybe a lot of different drugs can be made from this one thing called spice. We don't know, but we'll continue to debate and research.

  • The Book of Boba Fett Episode 7
    Feb 12 2022

Last episode of the series! There are a lot of things that happen in this episode. We get to see more Cad Bane, more Mando, and most importantly, more Grogu. We also finally get to see Boba in some real action. We honestly haven't had a lot of that in this series. We talk about all of that, as well as Dune (by Frank Herbert), accents, Rancors, and lightsaber forms. Overall, we had a lot of fun covering this show and are excited to see where Mando goes in season 3 of The Mandalorian.

In the Cad Bane wiki page, it says that Jango Fett mentored Cad Bane and that Cad Bane mentored Boba Fett. The wiki cites these two books as sources. Which, both seem to be canon.

    Episode Corrections

At 53:22 Ryan says "Solo got put in Kryptonite." The correct term is "Carbonite." Kryptonite is from the DC Universe and is Superman's greatest weakness.

At 1:10:42 Michael says, "Mace Windu invented the 8th form of lightsaber combat." Which, is not exactly correct. Mace Windu actually uses his own variation of the 7th form of lightsaber combat, called Vaapad.

We are back with Episode 6! We dive more into The Mandalorian, Boba's backstory, and our predictions about the final episode. The show was really slow going at first, but it is currently hitting its stride. Although it is focusing on Mando now more than Boba. Is that a good thing? Is it bad? We don't know, but that's why we made a podcast. To discuss such things. Hope you enjoy.
