Get a Life Ep. 183: Who Controls the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church Meeting Halls? with Steve Simmons
    Oct 24 2026
There are about 1,500 Brethren meeting halls around the world. The local brethren paid for them, built them and maintained them, often over generations. So who actually controls them now? Steve Simmons walks through what has quietly changed. In New Zealand, every locality's hall has been placed in a new trust, and every one of those trusts has the same corporate trustee, PBCC Properties New Zealand Limited. Similar structures appear to be going in across Australia and elsewhere.Steve goes back to Aberdeen in 1970, when large numbers of brethren could no longer support James Taylor Junior and some still managed to keep their halls. He explains why he believes the new structures are designed so that can never happen again. If a local assembly can no longer accept Bruce Hales as the elect vessel, but still believes in God, reads the Bible, preaches the gospel and breaks bread every week, should it lose the halls its own families paid for?Steve also speaks from his own experience of being cut off from the fellowship he was born into. He asks a question that members, donors, regulators and taxpayers should all be asking: are these charities really for the advancement of Christianity, or only for those who submit to one man?Link for insiders- https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/s7k1w12je2oo041ifmuk5/45000-183.mp4?rlkey=7n48c2vju2k1ma2if66ztnbek&st=txoxgtrv&dl=0Links to various PBCC Property trusts and companies: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GTioJVqXHaGRm2m3eKkSCbDxDBYmzIci/view?usp=sharingTo share your story or be a guest on the show, email info.getalife@proton.meLink to Sign Petition for Maple creek-https://www.change.org/maplecreek-rapidreliefteamLink to Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters video- https://www.youtube.com/live/xORVJaxBYz0?si=Mhg1YSyhoxj_-_trLink to Transcript of that meeting- https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/download/committees/commjnt/29770/toc_pdf/Electoral%20Matters%20Joint%20Committee_2026_08_21.pdf;fileType=application%2FpdfGet a Life Paypal donations -https://www.paypal.me/getalifepodcastGet a Life GoFundMe-https://gofund.me/614bcd06Olive Leaf Network- https://oliveleaf.network/Thinking of Leaving Pamphlet and resources - https://oliveleaf.network/resources/Link to Anchor/Spotify- https://open.spotify.com/show/4GhNv1hZp6tjfLyA4s6PMu?si=Gs5euyWpT4y7lOS8OTe4XAPreston Down Trust Decision-https://www.gov.uk/government/news/commission-publishes-report-on-the-preston-down-trustAberdeen incident- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1riImgAqwaqGwjYq6vRQIr4_jscJA0eQN/view?usp=drive_linkIf we walk in the light letters-https://drive.google.com/file/d/14WlgJladl1r95YGxW0FbZ0prYfjlg7FU/view?usp=sharingAdmin/Legal email address:stouffvillelegal-gal@protonmail.comOffice address:22 Braid BendStouffville ONL4A 1R7#plymouthbrethrenchristianchurch #pbcc #abuse #church #cult #religion #trauma #religioustrauma #sexualabuse #mindcontrol #brainwashing #conversation #exmembers #exposingtruth #expose #exposure #whistleblower #getalifepodcast #getalife #podcast #rules #strict #exclusivebrethren #brucehales #BruceHales #BDH #BruceDHales #UniversalBusinessTeam #UBT #RRT #RapidReliefTeam #Aberdeen #OneSchoolGlobal #OSG #johnhales #shutup #withdrawnfrom #worldly #excommunicate #assemblydeath #christiansect #christiancult #canadiancult #canadiansect #sect #worldwidesect #worldwidecult #cultescape #cultescapestory #bully #bullying #brokenfamily #awareness #cultescape #cultandculturepodcast #cultescapee #cultescapeer #cultescapeeinterview #askingforhelp #unispace

    Oct 22 2026
Master manipulator Bruce Hales rules his 55,000+ sheep by coercive control, not by Christianity. Kristin Wolf explains the mechanism of coercive control and shows how it works inside the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC), formerly known as the Exclusive Brethren. On October 16, Bruce Hales sat in front of the Australian Parliament and told them his members are free to make their own decisions. We put that claim up against his own ministry, his own words at the hearing, and the forms and agreements PBCC members have to sign. Kristin is a researcher and coercive control consultant who spent 35 years inside a controlling family system before she got out. She takes us through the BITE model and shows how behaviour, information, thought and emotional control run through Bruce Hales's ministry, and why "free to leave" means nothing when leaving costs you your family, your home and your work.We also show you the travel request forms, the relocation application forms and the participation agreement (NDA) members sign before they can sit in a meeting. No mainstream Christian church needs any of it.Canada made coercive control a crime this year, but the law only covers intimate partners. Kristin's petition to the House of Commons, e-7741, asks Canada to recognize coercive control by people in positions of trust and authority too. Please sign it and share it.Link for insiders- https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zvw369tha4h68o46ztgp2/45000-182.mp4?rlkey=ypspsccsdg21av1avz5fe1va7&st=qfbynl14&dl=0Sign petition e-7741: https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-7741Kristin Wolf: kristinwolfcoaching.comCHAPTERS0:00 Intro4:09 Kristin Wolf's story8:16 The BITE model and Bruce Hales' "ministry"1:14:19 Travel and relocation forms1:25:55 The participation agreement (NDA)1:32:33 Petition e-7741 and Canada's coercive control law1:51:29 Kristin's guide: naming coercive control2:02:03 The W.O.L.F. Oct 9 2026
What happens when religious authority and secrecy create an environment where abuse can remain hidden for generations? In this episode, we welcome Mike King from Profiling Evil, a retired police commander and criminal investigator with over 40 years of experience.Drawing from his investigations into the FLDS and Zion Society, Mike explains why law enforcement often struggles to investigate crimes within closed religious communities, how predators exploit positions of trust and authority, and why understanding the psychology of indoctrination is crucial when working with survivors. He also shares why removing a leader doesn't necessarily dismantle a system of control, why attempts to educate closed communities can fail, and how transparency and accountability can begin to break the cycle of abuse.Mike is now bringing his decades of investigative experience to the stage with **The Psychology of Cults**, a live show touring across Canada in October and November 2026, followed by Australia in December. Exploring some of the world's most notorious cults, Mike takes audiences inside the psychology of indoctrination, manipulation, and coercive control, helping us understand why people become trapped and why leaving can be so difficult.Link for insiders- https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6zglx2za3nmw8r0j1mfun/45000-181.mp4?rlkey=qjrp7r6axoiqddibolqkp0b0o&st=z1hvwu0e&dl=0Map to locate tour venues and get tickets: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/8c9a3eba226f483fbd9190a2fd177086#Tour Site: www.PsychologyOfCults.comProfiling Evil YouTube: www.youtube.com/profilingevilProfiling Evil Website: www.ProfilingEvil.comFacebook- https://www.facebook.com/profilingevilInstagram- https://www.instagram.com/profilingevil/X- https://www.instagram.com/profilingevil/TikTok- https://www.tiktok.com/ ⁨@ProfilingEvil⁩ Link to Mike's books- https://profilingevil.com/store/To share your story or be a guest on the show, email info.getalife@proton.meLink to Sign Petition for Maple creek-https://www.change.org/maplecreek-rapidreliefteamLink to Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters video- https://www.youtube.com/live/xORVJaxBYz0?si=Mhg1YSyhoxj_-_trLink to Transcript of that meeting- https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/download/committees/commjnt/29770/toc_pdf/Electoral%20Matters%20Joint%20Committee_2026_08_21.pdf;fileType=application%2FpdfGet a Life Paypal donations -https://www.paypal.me/getalifepodcastGet a Life GoFundMe-https://gofund.me/614bcd06Olive Leaf Network- https://oliveleaf.network/Thinking of Leaving Pamphlet and resources - https://oliveleaf.network/resources/Link to Anchor/Spotify- https://open.spotify.com/show/4GhNv1hZp6tjfLyA4s6PMu?si=Gs5euyWpT4y7lOS8OTe4XAPreston Down Trust Decision-https://www.gov.uk/government/news/commission-publishes-report-on-the-preston-down-trustAberdeen incident- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1riImgAqwaqGwjYq6vRQIr4_jscJA0eQN/view?usp=drive_linkIf we walk in the light letters-https://drive.google.com/file/d/14WlgJladl1r95YGxW0FbZ0prYfjlg7FU/view?usp=sharingAdmin/Legal email address:stouffvillelegal-gal@protonmail.comOffice address:22 Braid BendStouffville ONL4A 1R7#plymouthbrethrenchristianchurch #pbcc #abuse #church #cult #religion #trauma #religioustrauma #sexualabuse #mindcontrol #brainwashing #conversation #exmembers #exposingtruth #expose #exposure #whistleblower #getalifepodcast #getalife #podcast #rules #strict #exclusivebrethren #brucehales #BruceHales #BDH #BruceDHales #UniversalBusinessTeam #UBT #RRT #RapidReliefTeam #Aberdeen #OneSchoolGlobal #OSG #johnhales #shutup #withdrawnfrom #worldly #excommunicate #assemblydeath #christiansect #christiancult #canadiancult #canadiansect #sect #worldwidesect #worldwidecult #cultescape #cultescapestory #bully #bullying #brokenfamily #awareness #cultescape #cultandculturepodcast #cultescapee #cultescapeer #cultescapeeinterview #askingforhelp #unispace
