Summary

Are you living with type 2 diabetes…
But feel like no one is really listening to you?

Have you been told your A1C is “in range,” yet you still feel frustrated, weaker than you should, and stuck on medications you never planned to take for life?

Do you feel managed instead of helped — rushed through appointments, handed another prescription, and sent on your way?

If so, you’re in the right place.

The Diabetes Remission Roadmap Podcast is for capable, motivated adults with type 2 diabetes who refuse to accept “lifelong management” as their future.

Hosted by two pharmacists who’ve worked inside the healthcare system, this podcast exists to do what most appointments never had time for:

  • Treat you like a human, not a diagnosis
  • Explain why your blood sugar is high — not just how to medicate it
  • Show you how strength, food, and daily habits can change the root problem

Each week, we break down:

  • How to lower blood sugar without piling on more meds
  • Why “A1C in range” isn’t the same as true health
  • How to rebuild strength, confidence, and control
  • What your doctor should have explained on day one

No hype. No fad diets. No shame.

Just clear, practical guidance from pharmacists who believe you deserve more than lifelong prescriptions — and who know remission is possible with the right plan.

If you want to feel strong again, make decisions with confidence, and work toward a future with fewer (or no) medications…

This podcast is for you.

Now, grab some earbuds, and let's walk this road to remission together.

  • #77 - 5 Diet Traps That Could Be Sabotaging Your Blood Sugar
    Nov 4 2026

Keto brownies. Low-fat cookies. Vegan ice cream. Protein chips. Organic candy.

What do all these foods have in common?

They might follow the rules of your diet without actually helping you reach your health goals.

In this episode of the Diabetes Remission Roadmap, pharmacists Brian and Cory tackle five common diet traps that could be keeping you from improving your blood sugar, losing excess body fat, and working toward type 2 diabetes remission.

It all started when a client shared a recipe for keto brownies.

    Low-carb? Absolutely.

Probably won't cause a major blood sugar spike? Maybe.

    But here's the question:

Just because something doesn't spike your blood sugar, does that mean it's helping your metabolic health?

And keto isn't the only diet with this problem.

The food industry has gotten incredibly good at making products that fit whatever dietary trend is popular.

    Low-carb. Low-fat. High-protein. Plant-based. Gluten-free. Organic.

But how often do we stop to ask whether these foods are actually helping us accomplish what we're trying to achieve?

In this episode, we explore why certain foods can look healthy on the front of the package while telling a very different story on the back.

We also discuss the difference between short-term blood sugar improvements and long-term metabolic health, why nutrition statistics can be misleading, and a simple trick for identifying whether something is actually a good source of protein.

Plus, Brian and Cory debate diet trends, share a few laughs, and explain why sometimes it's perfectly fine to just eat a regular bowl of ice cream.

    Because here's the big takeaway:

A food can satisfy the rules of your diet without supporting the goals of your diet.

If you've ever stood in the grocery store wondering whether something labeled "healthy" is actually good for your blood sugar, this episode is for you.

  • #76 – Are Carbs TOXIC? Two Pharmacists Respond. (Rapid Fire Friday)
    Oct 30 2026

    Are carbohydrates toxic?

According to one commenter on our YouTube channel, Brian and Cory are apparently too scared to tell people with type 2 diabetes to stop eating ALL carbohydrates.

    Their argument?

"Nobody needs to eat a single gram of carbs."

    And here's the funny thing...

    They're right.

Your body can produce the glucose it needs through a process called gluconeogenesis. You don't technically have to eat carbohydrates to survive.

But there's a pretty big difference between "not required" and "must be eliminated."

In this Rapid Fire Friday episode of the Diabetes Remission Roadmap, Cory and Brian tackle their first YouTube troll and a surprisingly important question about type 2 diabetes, carbohydrates, and metabolic health.

    We discuss:

    · Why humans don't technically need dietary carbohydrates to survive

    · Why that doesn't automatically make carbs toxic

    · The pharmacist's favorite principle: the dose makes the poison

    · How insulin resistance changes your body's ability to handle carbohydrates

    · Why water, oxygen, vitamins, and even healthy foods can become harmful in the wrong amounts or circumstances

    · Why some people thrive eating almost no carbs while others improve their blood sugar eating considerably more

    · How reducing total energy intake can improve metabolic health through different dietary approaches

    · Why we care more about your A1C, muscle, body composition, and long-term health than which diet tribe you belong to

And yes, we even get into a little debate about whether making your own glucose puts extra stress on the body.

    The bottom line?

    We're not anti-carb. We're anti-bad blood sugar.

If eliminating carbohydrates helps you improve your health and you can sustain it, fantastic.

If you can improve your blood sugar while eating lentils, berries, yogurt, or other carbohydrate-containing foods, that's fantastic too.

The goal isn't to eat as few carbs as humanly possible. The goal is to find an approach that improves your metabolic health and that you can actually sustain.

  • #75 - 14 Years With Type 2 Diabetes. Now Off Insulin. Here's What Changed.
    Oct 21 2026

If you want early access to future episodes AND the chance to submit your own questions for Rapid Fire Friday, join us inside the Type Two Remission Room: https://tinyurl.com/3a4ta86d

Fourteen years with type 2 diabetes.

    Reliance on insulin.

And now? Her doctor says she no longer needs insulin, and her metformin dose has been cut in half.

    How did this transformation begin?

Someone suggested she listen to a podcast while walking.

That podcast happened to be the Diabetes Remission Roadmap.

In this solo episode, Cory shares an incredible listener-turned-client success story and explores a concept he calls delusional optimism.

    Not pretending everything is fine.

    Not ignoring your diagnosis.

Not believing you can wish your way to better blood sugar.

But believing that your current circumstances don't have to be your permanent circumstances.

Along the way, Cory shares a ping-pong lesson with his six-year-old son, a surprising turnaround on the softball field, and why the stories we tell ourselves can determine whether we even give ourselves a chance to succeed.

    You'll learn:

Why believing change is possible often comes before having proof

How years of struggling with type 2 diabetes can shape your expectations

The difference between optimism and wishful thinking

Why small wins build the confidence to keep going

How building muscle, moving more, and improving nutrition turn belief into measurable progress

Why one bad blood sugar reading doesn't mean you've failed

Why diabetes remission isn't guaranteed—but meaningful improvement may still be possible

You don't have to believe you'll win every point. You just have to believe you're capable of winning the next one.

Maybe your A1C is high. Maybe you're taking multiple medications. Maybe you've tried everything and feel like nothing works.

That might be your reality today.

It doesn't have to be your reality forever.
