About this listen

What do you do when three hot, possessive ghosts want to jump your bones?

I'm Bree, and I see dead people. Not all dead people. Only those with unfinished business. They're everywhere—I'll be eating my breakfast, and a poisoned heiress glares over my Cheerios. I can't even enjoy the wilderness without being accosted by chattering ex-hikers who don't understand which mushrooms are edible.

I've returned to my hometown of Grimdale to cat-sit for my parents while I plan my next move. I'm looking forward to raiding their fridge, hanging out with their two mischievous kittens, and staying far, far away from anything supernatural.

But I forgot that I'm never alone in Grimdale. The three ghosts I used to play with as a kid are back in my life again. Only now I'm their age, and they're infuriatingly attractive.

There's the slightly psychotic Roman soldier who loves the Great British Bake Off, the bossy, aristocratic royal prince who demands the finer things in life (er, death), and the blind Victorian gentleman adventurer who doesn't have a mean bone in his body (or any bones, for that matter).

My three ghoulish houseguests are the least of my problems. I've landed a job giving tours of the historic Grimdale Cemetery, and on my very first day, I stumble into a fresh corpse. The dead guy's ghost needs me to solve his murder so he can cross over, but sticking my nose into spirit business might see me to an early grave.

As for my three hauntingly hot friends? It turns out their unfinished business… is me.

You're So Dead to Me is the first in a darkly humorous paranormal romance series by bestselling author Steffanie Holmes. If you love a sarcastic heroine, hot, possessive, and slightly unhinged ghostly men, a mystery to solve, and a little kooky, spooky lovin' to set your coffin a rockin', then quit ghouling around and start listening!

I absolutely loved these books. The Grimdale Graveyard Mysteries and Nevermore Murder Club are both amazing series' to read and I cannot recommend them enough. There are one or two areas where you have to suspend your "ick" reflex where the pseudo-British isn't quite hitting the mark but it honestly doesn't detract from the world building & the stories as a whole being wonderfully crafted so go read all of them!!!! (the spice that is coming later in the series requires several chefs kisses to give it full reverence)
Now, on to this audiobook. I'm so sorry, but it's awful.
The narration is so bad that I'm giving it up as a bad job at chapter 7 which I'm loath to do but I cannot listen to another moment of fake English(ish) accents that roll from west country to home counties to a wander through the valleys, and side order of dales followed by, what sounds like, a hop over to Johannesburg!
I dwell firmly on the spectrum so it may be my brain being rubbed up the wrong way but for me these wonderful books with these narrators (who I'm sure are amazing in their natural accents) are a definite no, and I'm really disappointed to be writing that.

Love the story, not the narration

I giggled, I laughed out loud, I couldn’t stop listening. It is a great story, excellent characters, a ghostly murder mystery.

Excellent!!

the only negative I have for this book is the voice acting, you can tell its Americans putting on the generic British voices 😂 but aside from that, I really enjoyed the story, the little Easter eggs with the names of fellow characters, the subtle love between the main characters and the murder mystery making you stay on your toes!

Ambrose, you eternally have my heart!

A real pity the narration is so bad I got half way through and had to stop, I just couldn't finish because this switched me off completely, i.e. Bolly rather than Bali to name one annoyance plus dreadful accents attempted from both narrators. Seemed an interesting story to that point.

Wow, narration is dreadful

The storyline was okay, the accents by narrators was annoying at times. couldn't get into the book the way I wanted to. When it should have been sexy I was concentrating on the accents so much the sexy nearly flew over my head. I wanted to love the characters but.... just couldn't get into it.

This is a RH, Paranormal, ghosts murder mystery. FMC is in her 20s I think and the MMCs are 3 ghosts. The tone of the book is full of comical ghost antics, but the undertone of spice soon flares into more heat which could be hot with the right narrators.

The storyline is sweet, from a girl who sees ghosts and her past current bullies, escape, her family (who seems fun) issues, the cats, the ghosts and friends past and future. Topped up with grown up attraction and murders galore.

3 stars for narrators (mostly male attempts)
3.7 stars for overall book. may be a 4 star book if read instead of listened too

okay storyline
