About this listen

Overall, the novel was enjoyable and it has made me look up and learn more interesting historical facts and phrases from the Roman times. However, I won't be reaching for the next book in this series.

As for the text itself - just like with Roma soy yo - it suffers from a lack of good editing. The book would have been much more enjoyable if one didn't have to listen to the long-winded repetitions of the same or similar phrases and recaps. And while I appreciate the author's nod to the women augustas in the history of Rome, the chapter-long reeling of names during a conversation between Claudio Pomepiano and his son is simply boring. If you're not actually making any point whatsover, why not list these names in an Annex instead. I would have much preferred references to these women weaved into the conversations throughout the book instead.

The narration is pleasant and well paced.

Overall enjoyable
