Summary
The King Below, Enemy of the World, is dead. Will his successor save the world...or rule it?
Jacob Riverson was once the greatest hero of an age. Cut down during what should have been the final battle against the King Below, he was condemned to centuries of torment as a Wraith Knight in the service of said monster. With the destruction of his master, Jacob finds his free will returning and discovers he is in a world torn by civil war between the King Below's former slaves and the heroes who "saved" them.
Joining forces with the overly-idealistic but brilliant warrior Regina Whitetremor, Jacob must determine whether he has any place in the new world and whether his destiny is as a hero or monster.

An original take on fantasy
The characters you meet are brilliantly written, the lore is artfully constructed and the story... just wow. C T Phipps has out done himself with this original take on the fantasy genre. Dark humour, a conflicted mc with a past forgotten by history and op protagonists vs op antagonists. I loved this story, voiced perfectly by Peter Berkrot and can’t wait for the next one.

Excellent story!
I loved the unusual nature of the characters, the intellect of the conversation and the interesting developments of the goodvsevil mechanics of the world and how they aren't as simple as they appear.
Definately worth the listen!

“F**k them and the ass they rode in on”
Me Phipps never fails to satisfy with his writings! This dark fantasy is no exception and I enjoyed every page of it and I’m looking forwards to the next instalment.
I’ve never heard anything Peter has narrated before, but I was really impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up other books he’s narrated.
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.
