What if it’s a skill that has been lost or forgotten? With her signature depth and eloquence, Toko-pa maps a path to belonging from the inside out.

A witch is a wise woman, a healer. Yet for so long the word witch has had negative connotations. In this book, third generation hereditary witch Lisa Lister explains the history behind witchcraft, why identifying as a healer in past centuries led women to be burned at the stake, and why the witch is reawakening in women across the world today. This book provides an overview of the different schools of witchcraft and the core principles and practices within them.

Unfortunately this audio version is not the whole book. It's merely a couple of chapters, out of 16. I bought it to listen to in the car, on my way to and from work, as I don't have the time to read the book at the moment. I was left with the feeling of having been conned. What a rip off!!!

Any additional comments?
This was far shorter than I expected. It was not clear just how abridged it was. Having read the book many years ago I was looking forward to hearing the depth of the work but it stopped after two chapters. I wouldn't choose to pay this much for such a short version. Very disapointed.

Abridged version narrated by the author
An excellent recording by the author herself, who as a storyteller and “cantadora” is exactly the right person to read it, and at times, sing it.
Note that it is not the full book. I did not know this before I downloaded it and was a little disappointed. However the recording at 2h20m long is very accessible and a great introduction to the book (which is very long and dense). It covers the main concepts and stories of the book. Excellent and highly recommended.

An amazing read for both men and women. For women, this book finally makes sense of why our lives are the way they are. For men, it allows men a greater understanding of the innate beauty present in every woman. This is a book that every young person should read or have read to them. It explaines why every person is a unique individual and should be honoured as such.

too abridged - too softly spoken
Would you try another book from Clarissa Pinkola Estes and/or Clarissa Pinkola Estes?
I love the actual brick and mortar book . And I have two more of hers - unabridged - in my cart right now.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Too softly spoken. I listen while driving and it's hard to pay attention with her soft, slow voice. It also lulls me to sleep a little. I've restarted a couple times, realizing that my mind was wandering and I had missed so much.
Any additional comments?
I love the actual brick and mortar book - and it's huge. I can't believe they condensed it in to less than 3 hours. It's too abridged
